ABC's Anti-Palin Camera Tricks
It turns out that ABC used more than misleading editing and an erroneous definition of the Bush Doctrine in its Charles Gibson ambush of Sarah Palin. A Hollywood director forced to go incognito by Tinseltown's politically intolerant climate provides some insight on camera tricks used to diminish Palin at a subconscious level.
Wide-angle shots were used in Gibson interviews with the Obamessiah and Shrillary, putting everyone on the same general scale. But with Saracuda…

Funny how all the shots are no wider than the one on the left. There's a reason for this. While it's true that Governor Palin is of less stature than Mr. Gibson, the deliberate choice of the camera's height, framing and the use of telephoto lenses all serve to make Mr. Gibson look overpowering and Governor Palin the weak prey. This is common shooting technique we use to make a villain appear more ominous. How intuitive of ABC News to correctly portray themselves.
The expression on Gibson's face on the right is also instructive. He looks like a condescending jerk. But the idea is to portray Palin as small and foolish, a little girl who is being presumptuous by wanting to lead. Good thing we have the wise Charles Gibson to put her in her place.

I heard a caller on some Bill Cunningham show last night comment on how it also looked similar to a camera angle (when faced towards Palin) that they use to interview serial killers and such.
The media'll act like it's just normal camera shots not meant to mean anything yet we all know they plan every detail in their portrayals of those who they like and dislike and this was clearly meant to make Sarah Palin look bad.
Did it work though? Hell no. Every little thing the media does to hurt her and/or John McCain's image only helps them. I can't wait to see them whining come November. There should be a "flood lefty forums and blogs" day post-election results.

The entire Obama is nothing but a sham, a show put on for our entertainment. Why should an interview conducted by the left wing media (but I repeat myself) be any different?

Whoops, that should be "The entire Obama campaign" in my prior post. I even used preview and I still missed it!

Really interesting and an angle (pardon the pun) I hadn't thought of. I'll be watching for this little trick from now on.
I sent a tip to Drudge and referenced the Hollywoodtrenches blog. Hope some others do the same.

Gibson always has that prissy "I just sucked a lemon" look on his face, one reason I've never been able to stand him, quite apart from this episode.

Why the McCain campaign deigned to go on the All Barack Channel (All The Time) in the first place is beyond me.
Doesn't really matter, though, as Gov. Palin cleaned poor Charlie's clock, to put it mildly.
Turn her loose on the Fannie/Freddie scandal, Senator, and you're on the way to a 50-state landslide. Johnson, Gorelick, et al., should be serving 20-to-life, with full reimbursement of all funds stolen from these phony "quasi-private" companies, in fact "piggy banks" for hack Democrat politicians and former Clintonoids to rob.
