A Scientist Bemoans Australia's Hoax-Based Climate Policy
List Bob Carter, a research professor in geology and environmental science at James Cook University, among the many scientists who have shown the integrity to take issue with the global warming farce, a transparent ploy to raise taxes and increase government power. Here Professor Carter lays into Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's greedy attempt to exploit the hoax:
The Rudd Government's emissions trading policy deals only with the threat of presumed human-caused warming, and ignores the other all-too-real climate threats. The Government's intended emissions trading scheme, therefore, does not represent proper climate policy but rather constitutes a human global warming policy — which is an entirely different, and speculative, matter.
For the hypothesis that human carbon dioxide emissions are causing dangerous global warming has failed the tests to which it has been subjected. One important test is that global temperature has failed to increase since 1998 despite an increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide of almost 5 per cent since then.
So to say that human-caused global warming is proven to be a dangerous problem is untrue, and to introduce policies aimed at stopping presumed warming when cooling is actually under way is vainglorious. An emissions trading scheme also will represent an expensive act of futility, because its introduction will have no measurable effect on future climate. Even worse, the costs of emissions trading will be levied disproportionately against the members of our society least able to afford them.
As Carter points out, climate change is potentially a very real problem — not manmade climate change, but the natural kind that actually happens. The recent hysteria notwithstanding, colder weather is a much more serious threat. But in the short term, it's hard to imagine a more compelling threat than corrupt bureauweenies exploiting media-driven hysteria to advance their leftist agendas.

On a tip from Byron.

Carter better sleep with one eye open. They might snatch him in the middle of the night - perform a lobotomy on him and then he will be all smiling and happy instead of causing trouble by pointing out the truth about the biggest scam in history. It worked in the book "With Folded Hands" when the robots did it.

"... climate change is potentially a very real problem — not manmade climate change, but the natural kind that actually happens."
Quite. I am a bit worried about increasing pollution - CO2 is not all that healthy for animals, and even plants have limits. But given the choice between six inches of water and six hundred feet of ice in my neighborhood I'll take the water.
And given that Old Sol is acknowledged eve by the likes of IPCC politicians to contribute some 500 degrees Fahrenheit to the temerature of our planet, I do not understand those who say even a 1 degree change can only be attributed to humans.
There are many things which contribute in varying levels to our climate, and we humans probably are one if minor, but the political/green "solutions" to date are what computer types call "vaporware" - announcing something today as if it were accomplished when in fact it is under develpoment and may not make it further than a press release.

Noted that many global warming proponents are trying silence the skeptiks in anyway they know how including perhapes sending them to concentration camps for imediate brainwashing by the earth worshipping pagan scumballs HANG CAPTIAN PLANET CRUCIFI GAIA

Well, good luck with that. I've had some recent discussions with several liberals about global warming, and trying to point out anything that conflicts with their religious belief in climate change is like trying them to admit that 2+2=5. They are so convinced, so sure they are right, real temperatures and rational thought aren't going to change their minds. At all. Nothing will. If they have power, global warming will find it's way into policy and those who cause global warming (in their tightly closed minds), like big oil, will be punished.

Unfortunately, Rudd has these scam artistes on his side:
10-years absent global warming causing monster waves in Australia
Australia's coastline is increasingly being battered by extreme waves that are driven in part by climate change, government scientists say.
Scientists from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) have identified an emerging threat - monstrous waves that have increasingly pummelled Australia's southern shores.
These ferocious conditions are associated with the passage of extra-tropical storms through the south of the continent.
Researchers believe that a shifting climate could be partly to blame.
They have said that Australia is vulnerable to an accelerated version of global warming, which is causing serious droughts and sudden severe storms.
This vast, arid land was recently listed by the United Nations as a climate change "hotspot".
Australia needs all the help it can get on that front as it is one of the world's worst per capita emitters of greenhouse gases.

Andrew Bolt on the climate change issue: very interesting.
@ Scott: "Australia needs all the help it can get on that front as it is one of the world's worst per capita emitters of greenhouse gases."
Key word being "per capita." In real terms Australia emits about 1.5% of total greenhouse gases. Even a halving of the per-capita rate with the accompanying radical changes to the entire lifestyles of the entire population of Australia, would make only a 0.75% difference to total emissions.
Tell this to a liberal, though (I've tried), and they'll simply parrot the response that "the costs of inaction will be higher!!111!!!!!!222!!!!" and "Australia needs to set a good example so other countries like India and China will follow suit!"
Yeah, right. Requesting a slightly more realistic assessment of the benefits of crippling the entire economy in order to affect precisely zero change to world emmissions will result in a "does not compute" rant.
