The Vicious Cycle of Democrat Control

Thank you Glenn Beck, for shining some light on a telling correlation. The American cities with the worst poverty have been run almost exclusively by Democrats.

Nearly a third of the residents of Detroit and Buffalo live below the poverty line. Here's why:

Detroit, whose mayor has been indicted on felony charges, hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1961. Buffalo has been even more stubborn. It started putting a Democrat in office back in 1954, and it hasn't stopped since.
Unfortunately, those two cities may be alone at the top of the poverty rate list, but they're not alone in their love for Democrats. Cincinnati, Ohio (third on the poverty rate list), hasn't had a Republican mayor since 1984. Cleveland, Ohio (fourth on the list), has been led by a Democrat since 1989. St. Louis, Missouri (sixth), hasn't had a Republican since 1949, Milwaukee, Wisconsin (eighth), since 1908, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (ninth), since 1952 and Newark, New Jersey (10th), since 1907.

Implementing policies that increase poverty broadens Democrats' voter base. This creates a vicious cycle that has created the Democrat stranglehold on so many large cities. The more Democrats you have in office, the more socialist policies, the more poverty, the more poor people electing Democrats so as to get their free handouts. This loop has reduced great cities like Detroit into Third-World wastelands and promises to do the same to the country as a whole.

Beck quotes Benjamin Franklin, who would be unlikely to win a mayoral election against Detroit's felonious Kwame Kilpatrick:

I think the best way of doing good to the poor is not making them easy in poverty but leading them or driving them out of it.

If we had the likes of Ben Franklin running our cities, the cycle would be reversed. The more people who take initiative, the more people there are with money, the more vote against socialists, the more the government stays out of the way, the more initiative pays off.

Unless we find a way to make this happen, Detroit's present is America's future.

Detroit ruins
What Democrats have done to Detroit.

I'm not even sure there are any Republicans in Milwaukee anymore - just like in Detroit they fled to the suburbs long ago. Unfortunately, some of the leftist losers who voted the nannies into office are also fleeing to the suburbs, dragging them down into the mire along with Milwaukee. Milwaukee leftists aren't as wacky as most we read about on this site, but they're every bit as cash-hungry (Milwaukee Country is an absolute tax hell; I refused to buy a house there for that reason). Madison, on the other hand, is one of the most liberal cities in America, with a whole host of actual nutjobs. It's the Berkeley of the Midwest.

I'm not surprised that Milwaukee hasn't elected a Republican mayor in 100 years, given the shape the city is in. It has done nothing to promote itself or make itself attractive to business until just recently, taxes everything that moves (and a few things that don't), and hands out millions of dollars in social programs that don't work. And don't get me started on the billion-dollar boondoggle that is Milwaukee Public Schools - suffice to say that everyone that can send their child to a private school does.

Ahem...how about Baltimore, MD. Now there is a first class crap hole. The Democrats in Baltimore have destroyed an entire beautiful state. And then there is Erie, PA...north of Pittsburgh, nestled between Cleveland and Buffalo on Lake Erie. The Dems have destroyed Erie, PA. to a point where they will never climb out of their mess.

If there was no republican party fighting them at every turn, democrats would succeed in creating Utopia.

Just ask them. They'll assure you it is all Ronald Reagan and the Bush family's fault. In fact - they'll tell you without you having to ask.

Chicago's not bad, and they've been run by Democrats since the dawn of time.

Chicago's not bad, and they've been run by Democrats since the dawn of time.

That's because Chicago's Democrats over the years behaved a lot like Republicans, making Chicago very business friendly and actively seeking to grow the local economy. Their recent hellish sales tax increases show that that era might be over.

Things are getting so bad in Detroit, that even the dead are leaving. Families are transferring their loved ones from cemeteries in the city to cemeteries in the suburbs. Pretty soon, the only people left in Detroit will be the mayor, and his cronies.

Those that believe the Democrat party has their best interests in mind when given handouts that require only that they remain on their ass are being deceived. The Democrat Party has only its interest in mind.

Those who really have the best interest of the person in mind are the ones that give them a hand up and require they stand on their own two feet. Hint: it isn't the Democrat.

Democratic control depends largely on racism, emotion and ignorance...exactly what fuels the Obamaites.

No one commented on Philadelphia - the City of Brotherly Love - and working on becoming murder central USA. Now there's a hell-hole. It's such a shame that that historical city is nothing more than a beautiful historic district surrounded by 1.4 million deadbeats and criminals. Oh and they too like to export their crime. I live in a small town about 40 minutes from center city Philadelphia. I would guess (based on the local newspaper) that 90% of the violent crime and drug related activities all have Philly's fingerprint's on them. Never, ever bring small children to any of their professional sporting events......unless they already can swear like a drunken sailor. No offense to the Navy....I spent 10 years on submarines.
