The MPAA on The Clone Wars

You might want to think twice about taking your kids to The Clone Wars, the Star Wars cartoon movie that's opening this weekend. The ads warn that it might not be suitable for children:

Kids can watch homosexuals sharing gum on prime time television, but at least there's advance warning before anyone lights a cigarette in a movie. Next there will be labels warning about the momentary eating of foods that may contain trans fats.

Though moonbattery is by far the most harmful element of any movie, there's no need to warn against that, since it goes without saying that most anything excreted by Hollyweird drips with moonbattery.

On a tip from Lyle.

I can't help but laugh at the ridiculousness of things like this. Movies with sex and violence and F-bombs every fourth word are shown on TV (with some audio adjustments). Movies with some VERY adult themes are released all the time and nobody thinks anything of it. A child can see images and situations on an average episode of CSI that are very graphic and disturbing. But GOD FORBID they see someone light up a smoke. That might warp them for life!

The censorship types seem to have very selective sensibilities. CSI is graphic, but OK. Grand Theft Auto is graphic (no pun intended), but it isn't OK. Sex on TV is OK. Dismemberment on TV is fine. Smoking is not. Bad language in rock music is OK. Bad language in rap is destroying society. And heavy metal is just the tool of the devil no matter what (and we LIKE it that way!). \nn/

STAR WARS rocks! Anybody who says different is just plain wrong.

Next they will be giving out PG ratings because characters on screen are depicted emitting carbon from fossil fuels.

WTF?

Who is smoking in a Star-Wars cartoon?

***Light's a smoke, pours a bourbon***

I'm outraged.

The Him, just so you know, I think the warning will probably be referring to Jabba the Hutt. I believe he plays a relatively major role in the movie's plot (His son is apparently kidnapped by the bad guys, so Anakin is sent to help rescue the little Hutt before Jabba's outrage over the kidnapping sparks a war), and in 'Return of the Jedi,' he smokes a hookah.

Coder, I humbly suggest that it is R&B that is destroying family values.

To wit:

Dont cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me
Dont cha wish your girlfriend was a freak like me
Dont cha, dont cha
Dont cha wish your girlfriend was raw like me
Dont cha wish your girlfriend was fun like me
Dont cha, dont cha - Pussycat Dolls, “Don’t Cha”

It’s gettin’ hot in here
So take off all your clothes
I am gettin’ so hot
(uh uh uh uh)
I wanna take my clothes off - Nelly, “Hot in Here”

I’ma get, get, get, get, you drunk,
Get you love drunk off my hump.
My hump, my hump, my hump, my hump, my hump,
My hump, my hump, my hump, my lovely little lumps - Black Eyed Peas, “My Humps”

It’s not very easy, living all alone
My friends try and tell me, find a man of my own
But each time I try, I just break down and cry
Cause I’d rather be home feeling blue
So I’m saving all my love for you - Whitney Houston, “Saving All My Love For You”

At least Heavy Metal is being redeemed bit by bit by bands like Christian rock band Petra.

How about a warning regarding the damage an animated Star Wars is going to do to fans' brains?

Posted by: mandible claw at August 13, 2008 8:53 PM

Amen, Claw. Lucas has screwed Star Wars fans in the bum royally. I'm just waiting to see what kind of political fudge he can manage to squeeze into this one. Gotta start mushing up those minds when they are young, man!
