Stores Forced to Provide Party Rooms for Illegal Aliens
The reconquistadors running Los Angeles have decreed that big-box home-improvement stores — which in theory are owned not by authoritarian bureaucrats but by private citizens — will soon be required to build special shelters for illegal aliens.
The shelters must be easily accessible and include drinking water, bathrooms, tables, seating and trashcans. The stores may be required to work with Los Angeles police in developing a security plan, according to the unanimous vote by the 15-member lawmaking body.
What, nothing about refrigerators stocked with free cerveza?
Needless to say, the security plan will not entail enforcing immigration laws. Los Angeles is a sanctuary city that openly flips the bird to the DHS, ICE, etc. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is an anti-gringo fanatic who used to head a local chapter of MEChA, a group devoted to driving all non-Hispanics out of the Southwestern third of the United States.
Although unacknowledged by bureaucrats and the media, the Mexican-American War is being refought. This time, we're losing — thanks entirely to moonbattery.

On a tip from b1bbet.

WHOA! Talk about "under the radar", at least in the Anglo community! I hadn't heard a peep about this, but I'll be damned if I'm going to let this stand.
The numbers of illegals are so huge here, they can pretty much dictate whatever terms they want and we can do nothing. Most (though not all) of the hispanic community is on their side, too. It's an ugly situation.
This is a real warning to all of you out there who haven't seen the influx yet. DO NOT LET IT HAPPEN WITHOUT A FIGHT. These aren't "good people" just looking for the American Dream. That's bullshit to pacify the Gringo until it's too late. They come in, have a zillion kids and are absolutely determined to take over. Once they get a substantial foothold, all kinds of fun stuff happens.
Your property value goes down, crime goes up, your neighborhood looks like a border town ghetto, your culture is replaced with theirs (ditto language), and most of all YOU ARE NO LONGER WELCOME. But see, that's OK, because it's not WHITE discrimination. THAT would be bad.
L.A. is a lost cause. If you've never been here, you don't know how bad it can get. Be aware what is really happening and don't let the Reconquistas take over your town next!

I hope they take this to Federal court under the Takings Clause. This has got to be illegal at least at the Federal level, if not within the state constitution. Good Grief!
This whole wave is headed towards violence. I can feel it coming.

Private property (such as Home Depot) is a quaint notion of the past, as well as such other antiques such as mens rea, corpus delicti and any other restraint on government's ability to prosecute any one, at any time, for any thing it deems undesirable, or not doing something it considers desirable. All property is public now, including you and me. Get with the times, comrades!

I watched "The Fountainhead" last night. An awkard movie, but if you can get past the weird dialog and oddball characters, the actual point of the movie is absolutely spot on: The Individual vs. The Collective. "Sacrifice your self for the 'greater good'". "Any man's work is public property".
Watch it, ignore the dated quirkiness (which I actually LIKE, but that's another issue) and see if Ayn Rand isn't sounding more and more like a prophet!

JOHN EDWARDS: THE SAGA GOES ON, AND ON, AND ON…
“What a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive.”
Poor John Edwards apparently forgot the first rule of survival, that when you’re in a hole the first thing to do is to stop digging! The Breck Boy, steeped in his elitist arrogance, still thinks he can lie his way our of his smarmy affair with Rielle Hunter, formerly known as Lisa Druck.
Initially and with all the pseudo-indignation a politician could muster, he denied everything, and the media was complicit in burying the story. After all, two lackey lawyers had already exonerated him and lawyers are committed to truth, justice, and the American way. http://www.newsobserver.com/politics/politicians/edwards/story/1178632.html
Dig, dig, dig.
Then the National Enquirer caught him paying a social call on his mistress at the Beverly Hilton in the middle of the night and he continued to lie, without explaining why he had run away and had hidden in a basement men’s room for twenty minutes until security guards came to his rescue and manhandled the Enquirer reporters who simply wanted to interview him.
Dig, dig, dig.
Then came the photos, of Johnny in the hotel room with Rielle/Lisa and a baby,...

Gene, your post should go into the daily "open thread".

Are you sure this isn't a sting by the INS? What a great way to round up a bunch of illegals!

OFF TOPIC
"The Fountainhead" was a load of crap when you think about it. The "hero" gets pissed because his cliants changed a part of his design so he BLOWS UP THE BUILDING. Are we to believe that what WE want is unimportant and have to accept whatever is given us?
By the way, the "artistic" design that was championed in The fountainhead is the crappy GLASS BUILDING style that we have learned have problems with heating, cooling, dazling reflections, ect. That style became popular because it was CHEEPER to build.

Damnit, Gene! Why do you insist on being a narcissistic bunghole?

John Derbyshire offered up a great rip on "sanctuary cities" a few weeks ago - enjoy!

Fight For Your Right (to Party)
You wake up late for school - man you don't wanna go
You ask you mom, "Please?" - but she still says, "No!"
You missed two classes - and no homework
But your teacher preaches class like you're some kind of jerk
(chorus) You gotta fight for your right to party
You pop caught you smoking - and he said, "No way!"
That hypocrite - smokes two packs a day
Man, living at home is such a drag
Now your mom threw away your best porno mag (Bust it!)
(repeat chorus)
Don't step out of this house if that's the clothes you're gonna wear
I'll kick you out of my home is you don't cut that hair
Your mom busted in and said, "What's that noise?"
Aw, mom you're just jealous - it's the Beastie Boys!
(repeat chorus twice)

Its too bad that the civil servants that run the Border Patrol and INS are such wankers.
If they had any sense, they would pull out the big busses and go right to the source to round em up!

I do agree this is total garbage. Who is hiring these illegals?
Posted by: Parker at August 15, 2008 9:16 PM
Liberals and Democraps hire the illegals.
Posted by: Oiao at August 16, 2008 9:52 AM
Who is sheltering them? Who is setting up "sanctuary cities?" Who is buying illegal alien felons plane tickets back to their home countries to avoid reporting them to ICE? Who is suing to prevent employers from checking the social security numbers of new employees to make sure they are legit? Who is registering illegal aliens to vote? Who is suing to overturn propositions passed overwhelmingly to prevent illegal aliens from accessing services paid for by taxpayers? Who (besides John McCain) is calling people who want the borders secured and immigration laws enforced racists, bigots, and nativists?

The State of CA could almost balance it's socialist budget by just ending free programs for Illegals.
- Food Stamps in LA countly alone cost upwards of $240 million a quarter = you do the math.
- The school system and cost associated with illegals......................
- it goes on and on.....
- Majority of prisioners in CA state prisons = Illegals
- Additional burden on unpaid emergency room and other health costs by illegals
yada, yada, yada.....
But this is what the Dimocrap Party wants and pushes for.

KHarn, you missed my whole point of the Fountainhead and how it relates to this illegal alien shelter thing.
It's about the right of a person to stand on his own, work on his own terms and produce goods and services without being forced to conform "for the greater good".
It's also about money and altruism. As the character Roark states "A man who works for others without payment is a slave. I do not believe slavery is noble... not in any form, or for any purpose whatsoever." The housing project in the film was created by Roark: it was his idea, his work, done his way, taken from him by force (breech of contract), and therefore taken back by him. It's a metaphor, since no one is suggesting actually blowing things up!
(By the way, the architecture in the film was originally to be done by Frank Lloyd Wright, but the producers didn't want to spend the money, so they wound up with the ugly '50's 'glass box' look.)
When companies like Home Depot are forced to build shelters (FOR ILLEGALS no less), it means private property rights and the right of the individual are now made to bend to the will of the mob..."for the greater good".
It also defies logic and the rule of law: how can you PASS A LAW demanding something for LAW BREAKERS...and forcing private owners to give THEIR PROPERTY for someone elses use BY FORCE?

Um, Home Depot and other big box stores are being required to provide the shelters for day laborers working at their stores, if you would have actually read the article. Neighbors complained about the workers urinating in public and lounging on their property during nonwork times. I'm going to guess that most of you have break areas where you work, no?
The new rules apply to all laborers regardless of the workers immigration status. But don't let something silly like the facts get in the way of a good right wing rant.
Posted by: ed at August 16, 2008 5:48 PM
Wow, ed. You're not the brightest bulb in the package, are you?
Why should these stores have to provide shelters for people who choose to hang out outside trying to drum up work?
Don't let silly facts get in the way of your left-wing self righteousness.
Posted by: Winston Smith at August 16, 2008 7:38 PM
Um, don't let anything silly like that fact that illegal aliens hanging out in front of Home Depot have broken our country's immigration laws and have no legal right to be in our country or be employed by anyone get in the way of your snide, vapid, left-wing yawp.
Posted by: V the K at August 16, 2008 7:40 PM
Note to Ed: Day laborers DO NOT WORK FOR HOME DEPOT. They congregate there to find pick-up construction work from people who don't mind hiring illegals. It's pretty obvious "Ed" lives in a not-as-yet reconquista'd area. He'll learn.
Hey Ed, what if I don't want to pay income tax? I know that's illegal, but I'm a "good person" and am just trying to "make a better life". Do you think the government will not only turn a blind eye, but maybe build me a rec area if I hang around, say, the DMV long enough?
Posted by: matt at August 16, 2008 8:03 PM
...by the way, Ed. No place I ever worked had a special "break" area. Then again, those places were all owned and run by liberals. Which is why I work for myself now.
