Slobbering Acolyte Claims Obama Is as Substantial as a Movie Star

Remember Neal Gabler, the bearded hysteric on Fox News Watch who always had something supremely moronic to sputter? He's still around, spewing idiocy via PBS (courtesy of our tax dollars) and onto the pages of the Los Angeles Times, where he has written an onanistic ode to Obama that will send such thrills up Chris Matthews's leg as to make him yelp like a love-struck puppy.

Gabler holds that Obama isn't just a rock star. He's a movie star. The difference:

Rock stars, with some glaring exceptions, typically whip up the crowd; the thrill tends to be short-lived. Movie stars, by contrast, tend to create a long-standing emotional identification with their audience. […] Movie stardom can be confused with mere celebrity, which has connotations of insubstantiality.

Careful, you wouldn't want to confuse the jejune moonbattery of Tinseltown leftists, Obama, and liberal media scribblers like Gabbler with insubstantiality!

Obama IS a movie star - he regurgitates what other people write, and he tries to fill whatever role is put before him. I'm still waiting for him to don the orange vest and fill the air with bird shot so he can play the part of the "good old boy sportsman." I know, it's highly unlikely, but I still want to see him make an ass of himself in that particular way...

I agree. It is more appropriate to compare him to a movie star. They pretend to be something they aren't.

From today's local paper:

"KAILUA — When U.S. Sen. Barack Obama vacations in your neighborhood, you can expect folks to gravitate toward the light."

"The light"???? Gawd.

"...Obama got in a round of golf yesterday at Olomana..."

That's right! Obama at Olomana. You can't make that stuff up!

Jimbo, did the article say anything about loaves and fishes?

That's all he really is...a puppet...an actor...practicing Axelrod's speeches and scripted lines so it doesn't appear as though they're being read from a teleprompter.

"Ah wanna buy me a huntin' lahsence"... hehe that would be rich even the second time around.

Rock star, movie star, WTF difference does it make? We're talking presidency here, and neither type of star has anything to offer in that regard. Both rock stars and movie stars are just as likely to bark as the moonbat, and with few exceptions do.

The rational approach is to take either one with much skepticism; each should have a very high threshold to acceptance. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much rationality to go around, which is indeed unfortunate as it's FREE.

The funny thing is, Obama has admitted to his own 'security sins' from drug use to association with known fellons.........

Obama could not pass the basic background security checks, that a Private in the USA needs to enlist, but MoonBats will let him control our nuclear weapons.....

Heck, he might not even be a legal naturalized citizen of the US.

As for an actor, all politicians are actors.

Teachers in the UK: Students can't spell; the easy solution is to just let them spell words wrong. After all, why be so fussy about spelling in the text-messaging era. The chief editor of the Oxford English Dictionary says: Uhm, rules are rules, to which Reuters cleverly retorts, "even some of Britain's greatest wordsmiths have acknowledged it's a language with irritating quirkiness."

Patience Gaia has been named administrator of Maui County's newly created abandoned vehicle program, it was announced Friday.

The program comes under the Department of Environmental Management. The county processes an average of 200 abandoned vehicles per month, officials said. Gaia is a recycling specialist.

I bet she's got the "hots" for Algore. :-)

Just for laughs, do read this article on Salon.com on why Obamaa isn't "crushing" McCain: http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2008/08/11/obama/

My response:

OBAMA ISN'T REAGAN! NOR IS HE JFK!

The bewilderment libs have as to why Obama isn't "crushing McCain" would be amusing if it weren't so telling about the liberal mindset.

Much like Pauline Kael's shock at Nixon's landslide in 1972 when absolutely no one she knew voted for him, today's libs still don't understand the American people. http://sisu.typepad.com/sisu/2004/06/and_at_the_afor_5.html

A word of advice, libbies: You don't have even the slightest understanding of what America is all about. What it isn't about is collectivism and all things un-American that Obama represents.

Obama is the antithesis of American values. He may win in November, though, thereby proving that you can indeed fool a majority of the people once in a great while.

As for comparing him to Reagan, that's as preposterous as comparing him to JFK. They were both patriots. Obama isn't.
