Scheer Lunacy
Robert Scheer has revealed an amazing theory about Russia's brutal invasion of Georgia: it's a "neocon election ploy":
Is it possible that this time the October surprise was tried in August, and that the garbage issue of brave little Georgia struggling for its survival from the grasp of the Russian bear was stoked to influence the U.S. presidential election?
Before you dismiss that possibility, consider the role of one Randy Scheunemann, for four years a paid lobbyist for the Georgian government, ending his official lobbying connection only in March, months after he became Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain's senior foreign policy adviser.
Previously, Scheunemann was best known as one of the neoconservatives who engineered the war in Iraq when he was a director of the Project for a New American Century. It was Scheunemann who, after working on the McCain 2000 presidential campaign, headed the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq, which championed the U.S. Iraq invasion.
There are telltale signs that he played a similar role in the recent Georgia flare-up. How else to explain the folly of his close friend and former employer, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, in ordering an invasion of the breakaway region of South Ossetia, which clearly was expected to produce a Russian counter-reaction. It is inconceivable that Saakashvili would have triggered this dangerous escalation without some assurance from influential Americans he trusted, like Scheunemann, that the United States would have his back. Scheunemann long guided McCain in these matters, even before he was officially running foreign policy for McCain's presidential campaign.
This lunacy was published by a major MSM organ, the San Francisco Chronicle.
Notice that the moonbat instinctively takes Russia's side against its victim. Cold War habits die hard. He even praises Vladimir Putin, the former KGB thug who has effectively become a dictator, as Russia's "enormously popular elected leader."
Even Scheer is right about one thing: a reminder that it's a dangerous world out there isn't going to help Obama's chances to inflict Change.

Scheer is forgetting one extremely important thing: John McCain is in no position to do anything to help Georgia right now. He isn't President, and as a Senator he could maybe urge the President and Congress to act, but that's about all. The US is already fighting one unpopular war - adding another war is unlikely to be popular either. Scheer has also apparently paid no attention to what has been happening in Russia over the last five years or so. Putin wants the Soviet Union again, and many of his countrymen agree with him! Perhaps is was Putin that engineered this conflict. I have no evidence that this is true, which means I have just as much evidence as Scheer does about McCain, but it makes a hell of a lot more sense than John McCain/Republicans/neocons doing it.
I'm surprised Scheer didn't allege that McCain and/or his friends will get rich off of a war with Georgia. Maybe he's saving that for his follow-up piece. And shame on the SF Chronicle for giving garbage like this the time of day. No wonder no one reads the dead-tree media anymore.

So, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili allowed a situation that caused the deaths of hundreds of his people (and who knows how many more will die) because John McCain MIGHT win the election in November and therefore become a powerful friend. Wouldn't it make sense to make such a move IF and AFTER McCain was elected? And even then, the whole idea is ludicrous.
Besides, Georgia is already our ally. We didn't need bribing.

Agreed. Just because something sounds like it could be possible doesn't mean that it happened that way. This is a popular tactic with people that like to revise history, as well.

In the end, I don’t think Denver liberal leaders will have the stomach to actually arrest a large number of protesters since they will be too worried about getting sued by the ACLU.
Good, that means protesters will do quite a bit of damage at the expense of Denver Taxpayers, who voted for their MoonBat leadership.

However, we also believe that there is a rising antipathy in some quarters concerning that behavior and this is an attempt to mitigate those feelings.
I am not empowered to condemn nor to offer a rapprochement to homosexuals but I will do so anyway, because I can. This is not intended as a Heterosexual Manifesto but rather it is aimed at clearing the fetid air that exists between two conflicting communities and beliefs.
This then is my proffer of conciliation, rapprochement, to the gay community:
TO HOMOSEXUALS:
No one denies that you are entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. However, should the exercise of those rights ever infringe on the equal rights of the majority community, you should be denied them just as we should be denied any attack on the rights of any minority. This does not posit a tyranny of the majority but rather an assertion of the majority prerogative.

Yep... even if we aren't really neocons. But they seem to think that we should take offense to that label. I only take offense in that "neocon" is a little bit left of what I actually am. But anything right of center is better than a moonbat.

@Rob Banks: Actually even if there was rioting on the streets you probably wouldn't hear about it, now, at least not for a while. There was a huge thing down in Oxford abut a year and a half ago but it didn't even make the news. After the Oldham riots, it seems to have become the media consensus that any large protest against immigration or islam simply shouldn't exist. For all we know they could be burning down Birmingham but it wouldn't get reported, the better to avoid the risk of people elsewhere joining in.
People still trust the BBC, the BBC still dominates the news media in this country. All the others pick up crumbs from its table. If the beeb denied something was happening... I don't know what would happen, but for now they simply report it in as anodyne terms as possible to minimise the reality of what's happening.

It appears that China's Ministry of Truth messed one up. Nine months ago, He Kexan was only 13, but today she's 16.
Just nine months before the Beijing Olympics, the Chinese government's news agency, Xinhua, reported that gymnast He Kexin was 13, which would have made her ineligible to be on the team that won a gold medal this week
China's Ministry of Truth has flushed it down the memory hole, and no doubt someone is en route to Room 101 for a little reeducation.

Conservigilante, can you show me some examples of this? I am certainly by the definition of most of you here a libtard moonbat, and I don't support Russia's actions at all. Nor, in my moonbat daily readings have I found anyone else who does. The closest thing I can find to that is that there are some, including many Georgans, who feel that it may have been instigated by Georgia, but that Russia's response was totally over the top.
Bear in mind, even John (don't make me come over there) McCain stated today that he isn't sure whose "to blame" for this.
