PETA Does Its Part to Defend the Border
For once PETA is attempting to do some good, by attempting in its typically misguided way to scare Mexican colonists out of invading the Southwest. It wants to place billboards on the tiny stretches of fence that have been constructed at the border, warning of the horror of the American diet:
The billboards, in English and Spanish, would offer the caution: "If the Border Patrol Doesn't Get You, the Chicken and Burgers Will — Go Vegan."
"We think that Mexicans and other immigrants should be warned if they cross into the U.S. they are putting their health at risk by leaving behind a healthier, staple diet of corn tortillas, beans, rice, fruits and vegetables," said Lindsay Rajt, assistant manager of PETA's vegan campaigns.
But if Mexicans don't eat meat, it's probably because their socialist economy doesn't allow them to afford it — which is why they keep pouring into America.

On a tip from Oiao.

You know, the picture at the bottom of the poster that I'm assuming is PETA's conception of Mexican life looks very much like an old-time racist depiction of "southern darkie" life.

Peta knows as much about illegal aliens as they do how to prepare a good steak tartare.
If there is ONE thing that our "migrant undocumented guest workers" could care less about, it's the "progressive-environmental" agenda.
They are here for the free medical, free school and under-the-table jobs. The second generation are into the gangs.
Pushing an "environmental" (or in this case, animal rights) message on them has about as much effect as having a huge bear come through your camp ground and start scavenging food...and you insist it use a salad fork when eating the lettuce.

corn tortillas, beans, rice, fruits and vegetables
Uh, PETA, you are aware that we have those things in the US too, right? They aren't "leaving behind" anything as dietary habits go.
But then, why let facts get in the way of a good anti-US rant, eh leftists?

Actually, knowing that deranged turds like the PETA freaks live in the U.S.could be a good way of scaring away would- be border jumpers.

I say this is great. We charge for ad space along the fence and have the fence paid for. Capitalism at work!!!

Ifyoreadthe articlefurhter, it calls the Mexicans "fit and trim". I really do not think they have been across the border to see waht the aveerage Mexican looks like.

I'd rather see signs that said "Danger - Land Mines" hanging on the fence...

Pablo is right, if they really wanted to keep out illigals, they would put up a sign that actually scares them. This sign is, well, nothing more than anti-US propoganda, since, as Coder says, those "healthy" foods can be had anywhere in the US.
People will not change their eating habits that easily. If they're healthy in Mex, they'll be healthy here.
