David Gergen Plays Race Card in Defense of Obama

David Gergen, who has long managed to get his mug on television by serving as an obedient tool of the liberal establishment, has come rushing to play the race card in defense of his megalomaniacally narcissistic savior, the Obamessiah.

This McCain ad really hit the mark, causing Gergen to sputter in outrage:

Via HuffPo:

On Sunday, longtime Washington hand David Gergen took umbrage with John McCain's recent attack ads, charging that the Senator was using coded messaging to paint Barack Obama as "outside the mainstream" and "uppity."
"There has been a very intentional effort to paint him as somebody outside the mainstream, other, 'he's not one of us,'" said Gergen, who has worked with White Houses, both Republican and Democrat, from Nixon to Clinton. "I think the McCain campaign has been scrupulous about not directly saying it, but it's the subtext of this campaign. Everybody knows that. There are certain kinds of signals. As a native of the south, I can tell you, when you see this Charlton Heston ad, 'The One,' that's code for, 'he's uppity, he ought to stay in his place.' Everybody gets that who is from a southern background. We all understand that. When McCain comes out and starts talking about affirmative action, 'I'm against quotas,' we get what that's about."

In other words, any criticism of Obama, the alarmingly mindless hype that drives his campaign, his pathologically bloated ego, his sneering elitism, or his complete lack of qualifications to be president is racist, as is objection to racial discrimination against Caucasians. So shut up and submit to your fate, America!

As a native of the South, I can tell you that Gergen is full of it and that Oblama has been promoted by the media as a GOD.

Quotas, left over from Carter's "human rights program", are nothing but dressed-up TOKENISM. So if McCain is against quotas, I'm with him!

By the way,
As offencive as tokenism was, at the very least, an employer would have hired a QUALIFIED minority; under Carter's plan, COLOR was the only qualification.

I personally know of one business and have heard of another that were SHUT DOWN by government lawsuits when they didn't abide by "Mr. Peanut's" plan.

I'm a native of the South too, and like KHarn, I too can tell you that Gergen is full of crap.
Calling someone "uppity" went out with segregated drinking fountains.

I'm a native of the south, and I'm telling you, Gergen is telling the truth. Obama is being attacked for being uppity. It's garden variety racism. They want to spread the idea that Obama is stepping out of his "place".

McCain really needs to grow up and stop these juvenile attacks on his opponent.

And a couple more points:

Gergen did not sputter. He spoke quite calmly. George Will sputtered a bit, but got control of himself within a few seconds.

And no, to object to this grotesque ad is not to say that Obama is perfect, or a Messiah.

(A native of the south)
No Mr. Gergen, Barack is as mainstream as a fellow can get. It's what is on the teleprompters in front of him. It's that preacher spewing "Black Liberation Theology". It's George Soros's money, and ACORN, and the Woods Foundation, and on and on and on...that's way out of the mainstream.

Mr. Mockingbird, you have bought the GOP bill of goods, haven't you?

Your "he's not mainstream" argument fails to see the reality of the American electorate. Check out public opinion of Obama-he leads in the electoral college, and public opinion polling shows him as ahead in every area with the exception of one.

Senator Obama is an excellent extemporaneous speaker. If you listened to him instead of right wing radio, you would know that.

The electorial collage comes into paly AFTER the election, you are talking about POLLS.

In short, you are ignorant of the American electorial process and have bought into the whole Oblama lie.

That was a pretty funny ad.
