The Obamessiah's Forgotten People
Not everyone is all that worried about the price of arugula at Whole Foods:
Among the first of Obama's people to be forgotten is his felonious associate Tony Rezko — forgotten by the media, that is.
On a tip from Oiao.

I've long said that the best man (or woman) for president is the one doesn't really need the job. That is, this person is smart, competent, and understands the position of the Presidency in the US and around the world, and is completely uninterested in what having that job would mean to them personally. I look back to George Washington as the prime example of a great American President not only because of the remarkable job he did holding a fragile new republic together, but in the fact that despite being the obvious choice for the position, he didn't really want the job. He was not interested in power or personal gain - he took the job because he wanted the best for his nation.
I fear we will never again see such a creature. The political trenches are filled with those that lust after power for its own sake, to make themselves immortal. What we need is a person that would be more than willing to serve his four or eight years out of duty to and love of country, not because he likes the sound of "President ".
The only person I can think of that comes close to this description is Colin Powell. The only drawback is he's too decent to take the job, and probably doesn't want the intense scrutiny that comes with the campaign for the post, let alone once you actually get it. If the Republicans have any sense, they will beg Powell on bended knee for him to at least run as VP under (yecch) McCain. Wishful thinking.

Its so sad. What kind of man who really cares about people would leave them to suffer. Even if he "didn't know", whats to keep him from doing something about it now? He's still a Senator, right? But of course, those people have served their purpose and, like Cindy Sheehan, are discarded as soon as they cease to become valuable to "the cause". Sheesh, Obama is a pitiful excuse for a candidate.
