Ralph Nader Nips at El Rushbo's Ankles
Rush Limbaugh's generous but well-deserved new contract isn't sitting well in the belly of communist gadfly Ralph Nader. In a petulant letter to the Maha Rushie, Nader asserts that the airwaves belong to "the people" (i.e., leftist bureaucrats), and demands that El Rushbo pay rent for using them.
According to Nader, Rush is "freeloading" and "on welfare."
If only Nader had power, he could take away Rush's millions and even his Golden EIB Microphone. He could force him to march with his Dittoheads, in sackcloth and shackles, to reeducation camps from which only a handful would ever reemerge. This is how it works wherever Nader's ideology has been imposed, why should America be different?
Such a magnificent dream, isn't it Ralph? So stop writing childish letters and get to work peeling votes from Obama!

On a tip from V the K.

Only if all radio stations pay for the airwaves as well as all left leaning liberal broadcast networks like CBS, ABC and NBC.

And why would he need to peel votes from Obama?

They talk a blue streak about America, civil rights, health care, justice, "Change"...but they're all fifth columnists trying to take away your freedom. Including Ralph, it seems.
I was coming out of a grocery store, when I was confronted by someone collecting signatures for a "Green Peace" petition. They said their bit, and I simply asked "Can you tell me if you support property rights?" Long pause. What did I mean? I said "Do you feel a person has a right to own private property?" After the bluster and fumbling, the bottom line was that the "Earth couldn't truly belong to any one individual, and..." Thank you, stuff your petition.
It's always the same: save the earth, liberate the radio waves, health care for all, public transportation, etc. etc.....just GIVE UP YOUR PERSONAL FREEDOM (and your money and property, which will be re-distributed).
Man, this is an all-out assault on the Republic. 2008 will be a watershed year one way or the other.

Brian, the more votes he sucks from Obama, the less Obama has to work with. Nader did the same thing to Kerry in '04. If Kerry had all of Nader's vots, he would've won. Third partys can make or break an election.
I've always found Nader creepy.*Points to right eye* His eyes are never on the same page. And in this picture, Nader looks like he has jaundice

The airwaves may indeed belong to "the people", but the means of getting to those airwaves isn't free. Hence broadcasting companies, which sell advertising to other companies to pay for the programming we watch and listen to.
We also work within this thing we call "capitalism", which of course Nader and the other lefties would do away with at the drop of a hat. This means that someone, in this case Clear Channel and Premiere Radio, believe that Rush is worth a certain (and large) amount of money to them, in the sense that he will generate well in excess of that during the lifetime of his contract. The deal works for Rush, it works for his employer, so what business is it of Nader's or anyone else's? The answer, no surprise, is that leftists and other big-government types believe that EVERYTHING is their business and that anything they don't like should not be allowed, individual liberty be damned. And of course they're pissed because the largest thorn in their side will not be going away any time soon.

Ralph is comic relief. Especially when he accuses Obama of "talkin' white". My god that was hilarious. Almost as funny as Jesse "sycophant" Jackson threatening to cut off Obama's nuts.

Exactly right Coder. I remember the same kind of criticism leveled at Michael Eisner. He was pulling something like $110m per year. "Oh, what a TRAVESTY, what an over-paid monster!" Yeah, well...at the time, Disney was doing REAL GOOD. Ask the stock holders if they wanted Eisner to earn less.
Another point...NOTHING is for free. Unless the CEO of a company is doing something shifty, they EARN that kind of dough. Eisner traveled with a cardiologist. Get the feeling his job was a bit stressful? When a company pays you that kind of scratch, they expect big results.
No one is going to be one iota better if Rush or anyone else earns LESS money. Don't be duped by these Communists in sheeps clothing!

Just WHO does Nader (He's still alive??!!) demand Rush pay for being on the air? The government? Everybody in the United States? NADER?
Posted by: KHarn at July 10, 2008 3:12 PM
EXACTLY KHarn!
Of course, we know what this is actually about: class warfare. "See the evil bastard earning so much money while you slave away for peanuts! Don't you hate him? Don't you want to see him earn less? Wouldn't it be better to re-distribute that money to those who REALLY NEED IT?"
Karl Marx would be proud.

At some point, Nader ceases to be a "useful idiot" and should be downgraded to simply "idiot."

Aren't the people who hired El Rushbo paying license fees for broadcast rights to the airwaves they're using, thereby paying rent for them?
Posted by: steven at July 10, 2008 7:25 PM
Yes steven, they are. But for "progressives" that just isn't enough. The fact is, Limbaugh is POPULAR and has a HUGE AUDIENCE and makes the stations he's syndicated on LOTS OF MONEY.
Therefore, it's unfair. Why should HE be popular and make lots of money just because he does his thing better than others? Why shouldn't someone with less talent and appeal get just as much? IT'S NOT FAIR!
Read Ayn Rand. She hit the nail so hard on the head it hurts. Those who cannot do (looters) insist that it's the "duty" of those who CAN do (producers) to work harder so that what they earn can be "redistributed" more "fairly" to everyone.
Who is John Galt?
Posted by: matt at July 10, 2008 7:56 PM
steven- absolutely right. All commercial broadcasters are already paying rent for the airwaves. They are also already regulated in terms of signal strength and quality, and to some degree, in content (seven dirty words, threats, etc.)
There are also plenty of opportunities available for opposing views. If you have any kind of broadcasting training it's not that difficult to get a local radio show, if you are willing to start out working for $50 a night, broadcasting to an audience of 100. Rush failed at many radio gigs before finding his niche and taking off. What the Left is trying to do is just walk into a syndication of hundreds of stations like he has, without paying their dues. Air America showed just how much talent they had to offer.

Rush Limbaugh is God. He deserves everything he's got. I agree with everything he says. I'd put Vicodin on my Pop-Tarts if he told me to.

Ralph Nader is the reason the late Pat Paulsen got out of politics. For years, Paulsen would run a faux campaign, droning nonsense proposals in a voice that make Ben Stein* sound like a game show host, as a parody of politicians. When Nader started running, he looked like he was stealing Paulsen's act.
*I am aware that Ben Stein did serve as a game show host, and he was quite a bit more animated in that than in his usual "Bueller, Bueller" persona.

Nader -- Moron: Rush earns that money, you nit-wit. I know you want to suck on the government (or, "public") teat, and never put in one minute's worth of effort, you pathetic loser, but Rush actually works (you have at least heard of that word, right?) for it.
Yep, Ralphie would be a perfect Secretary of Labor for the new Messiah Administration . . . Both of them pitiful idiots without a clue. Or, hey! Maybe Ralphie would be the perfect choice for VP! What'dya think, Your Enormity?
