Rainbow Hippies Brawl in Boulder
The peace-loving Rainbow Family has been at it once again:
Five members of the "Rainbow Family" — a loose-knit band of hippies that preaches love, tolerance and peace and is best known for its large gatherings every July — were arrested Tuesday night by Boulder County sheriff's deputies after a violent brawl broke out at the group's campsite near Ward.
Deputies responded at about 6:30 p.m. to a report that a fight had broken out among a group of a dozen people camping out in the area of Ruby Gulch, located on state Forest Service property along the Peak to Peak Highway between the towns of Nederland and Ward.
When deputies arrived, witnesses reported that one man, a Nederland resident aged 34 or 35, was hit in the back of the head multiple times with a shovel and possibly stabbed in the neck during the fight, Sheriff's Sgt. Brian Lindsey said.
A knife to the neck seems to be a specialty among the flower children:
In 2006, a member of the Rainbow Family angered over another family member's refusal to help him "regulate" others camping at Ruby Gulch stabbed him in the neck, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Court records show that Joshua Sunchild Silva, known by his Rainbow name of Karma Chip, pleaded guilty to third-degree assault and was sentenced to six months in the Boulder County Jail in the stabbing of Gilbert Hernandez, 31.
Another specialty is attacking federal agents.
A moonbat named Papa Stone clarifies what the Rainbow Family is all about:

In other words, the idea is to live like animals, an objective they have achieved admirably. No wonder the authorities side with them against the Boy Scouts, and the ACLU wages jihad on their behalf.

Glad that the Scouts were removed from the area, if nothing more, for their own safety. Hard telling what these wacked out loons would have done to them.

as a libertarian type in my late 30's who did actually attend a few of these events back in my college days. I will shed a little clarification on the incident - not to distract from the dirty hippy jokes or the fact that indeed stabbing someone is NOT peace and love.
While the main group at the Rainbow are a bunch of delusional aquarian types, they are for the most part simple leftist nature worshipers (more anarchist than socialist). The A camp denizins on the other hand are the mentally ill gutter punk/alcoholic derilict types. I know its not much of a distinction, but think silly hippies kids on one side, dude under the freeway on the other. A-camp is notorious for mentally unstable alcoholic types who demand stuff from people showing up, whereas the main group is all about sharing, yada yada. Whether you agree with the rainbow mentality or not, and at this stage in my life I find most of their philosphy on the "Moonbattery" side, A-Camp is not Rainbow, but more aptly homeless bums crashing a party.
