Queen Nancy Is Saving the Planet for Us Little Folk
In a mostly fawning piece on Politico, megalomaniacal House Speaker Nancy Pelosi explains why she has been using hardball tactics to prevent oil drilling, so that we have to pay $4 going on $5 per gallon for terrorist oil instead of producing our own:
With fewer than 20 legislative days before the new fiscal year begins Oct. 1, the entire appropriations process has largely ground to a halt because of the ham-handed fighting that followed Republican attempts to lift the moratorium on offshore oil and gas exploration. And after promising fairness and open debate, Pelosi has resorted to hard-nosed parliamentary devices that effectively bar any chance for Republicans to offer policy alternatives.
"I'm trying to save the planet; I'm trying to save the planet," she says impatiently when questioned.
Oh, you're trying to save the planet. Carry on, Madame Speaker, before we all succumb to doom.

On a tip from V the K.

She was very amusing on The Daily Show last night, too. It turns out every problem in the US government and in the world, such as the single-digit approval rating of her Congress, is the fault of the Senate, or the Republicans in Congress, or the President. There is not a single problem in the world, including her 9 % approval rating, which has anything to do with her or her party. And as usual, it all boils down to somehow figuring out a way to educate the really stupid people in this country that their views are wrong, so they'll start voting correctly.
The funniest moment was when Pelosi said "I stand with the people against this Congress." Umm, Pelos-hag, you are the leader of the Congress.

Pelosi is trying to save something alright, but its not the planet.

She wants to save the planet? She can start with getting rid of her private jet plane paid for by tax dollars and ride with the peasants in first class on a commercial flight.

Pam, you misunderstand. She's saving the planet for her use, not yours.

From the Politico piece:
..."But mostly, Pelosi is drawn to the explorers of the Age of Discovery — Balboa, Magellan, Vasco da Gama — all struggling at sea without an accurate way to measure East-West progress."
If Pelosi is so damned fascinated by discovery, why doesn't she let our oil companies go and drill for more oil and natural gas for us and the world markets? The geologists, geophysicists, and engineers have already done a portion of the discovery work and they are ready and willing to do more if not artificially restrained by Luddite politicians.

Aren't we paying her to work for the U.S.?
Usual liberal grandiosity.

In the days of Balboa, Magellan, Vasco da Gama, Columbus, et al, Nancy Pelosi would have vetoed funding for their voyages out of fear of harming primative native cultures by introducing European values in other parts of the world.

An entire country is being held hostage by foreign oil. Instead of doing something NOW, the Dems are playing a game of attrition. WITH OUR LIVES AND OUR MONEY!
Somehow, when fifty-something percent of the people are against the Iraq operation, it's an overwhelming mandate. But when NINETY ONE percent of the people are against Ms. Pelosi, polls don't mean anything.
Ms. Pelosi is beneath contempt. DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW, DRILL ANWR, DRILL THE COASTS.

"I'm trying to save the planet"
So when's your last day?

Coder, thank you for clarifying! I keep forgetting I am part of the unwashed masses.

It just struck me, reading this post; politicians just like Nancy Pelosi are the very reason that the founding fathers put the 2nd amendment in the Bill of Rights.
