July 4: Just Another Day for Moonbat Vermin to Denounce America

Here's how Chris Satullo of the Philadelphia Enquirer wants us to celebrate the Fourth:

Put the fireworks in storage. Cancel the parade. Tuck the soaring speeches in a drawer for another time. This year, America doesn't deserve to celebrate its birthday. This Fourth of July should be a day of quiet and atonement. For we have sinned.

Why is America so horrible that we should spend our national holiday wallowing in self-hatred? Because according to liberals, foreign terrorist murderers haven't been pampered sufficiently.

Bush's strategy of taking the fight to the terrorists has spared us from a significant attack for the last seven years. Nonetheless, we're told that attempts at self-defense are a "scam." We are allegedly cowards for not rolling over and letting Muslims blow us up. Intones Satullo:

The world sees this, even if we are too dim to grasp it.

Except of course for the "best among us" — i.e., enlightened progressives like Satullo who have "raised the alarm." After praising himself, he exhorts the rest us to show "humility."

There may be times when rational arguments with liberals can be attempted. But for the most part, all you could possibly say to them can be expressed with one finger.

Hat tip: Stop the ACLU; on tips from V the K and mega.

When I was growing up, which wasn't that long ago, we were taught in school that America was a pretty terrific place. There are things in our past that are not particularly good (slavery, treatment of the Indians, etc), but on the whole America really was the land of opportunity. Hence the flood of immigrants from "the superior and sophisticated" European countries.

At what point did it become fashionable for Americans to hate America? And why would the media (almost to a man) go along with this? Are they really so childish that they would trash an entire country and its entire history just because "their guys" (the "liberal elite") aren't in charge? I'm not saying America hasn't done bad things, isn't doing them now, and won't do them in the future, but does that mean that America is an evil place? No. It means that America is a nation formed by humans and run by humans, with all of the failings that entails. What America does allow for is the ability for the people to speak their mind, vote their conscience, and make a good life for themselves and others if they so desire.

On July 4, we celebrate this nation and our forefathers for the bravery they showed in rebelling against the most powerful nation on Earth because they believed freedom was something every person had a right to. Because they had the courage to back up their rhetoric, a concept foreign to moonbats. Because they believed that man can do great things given the chance to do so. Because in so doing they laid the groundwork for the nation that has provided for all of us a quality of life unprecedented in history, even though some of us don't appreciate it (I'm looking at you, Mrs. Obama). Some of what came before, in retrospect, is regrettable, but that doesn't mean that the model is flawed, merely that humans are flawed.

So tomorrow, enjoy your holiday. Spend time with your family and friends. Break out the bratwurst and sauerkraut (boiled in beer and onions first, natch). Watch the fireworks display your tax dollars provided. And above all, be proud of your country. It isn't perfect, but nothing else is either. Being morose and morbid about it won't change that.

"...For we have sinned...."

See, further proof that modernism, liberalism, PC whatever you want to call it is a RELIGION. So when they try to enact legislation grounded in such ideology, the true conservatives in the media and in office out to call them out on this and remind them of the separation of church and state.

I suppose I'm a moonbat, but it seems to me that Satullo is pointing out a number of things that the Bush administration has done which seem in contrast to what the idea of America stands for. Liberals who have a problem with what this administration have done, hate the administration, not the country. I love America. I don't like what I've seen done in her name. But I don't hate America, any more than conservatives hated America when they spent the better part of 8 years trying to convince us all that Clinton had 3 sixes on his skull.

Speaking of which, I never notice any conservatives thanking Bill Clinton for keeping the country free of terrorist attacks for seven years. And he managed to do that WITHOUT starting a war that has cost us soldiers and insane amounts of money.

for the record, saying that America doesn't "deserve" to celebrate the fourth of july, is pretty silly.

Raising my personal flag of The United States of America and praying for this nation as the flag rises up the pole, is one of the greatest privileges and honors of my life. America is the greatest country on earth because of the citizens of the rest of the world who come here. Every single nation on Earth has added to the whole of what she is today by what THEIR migrating citizens contributed.

Mandy is right on the mark! It is self-loathing and it is a religion.

One last thing...

The only wave of immigrants who not only do NOT contribute anything good to this land, but intentionally take and take unlawfully from America are the Muslims. All other races and religions contribute at least to the financial good of this country but not the Islamists. Though the Chinese often escape paying taxes because of the good industry they thrive in, they at least spend money here and put back some of what they earn. But the majority of Muslims rape this country, pay little or no taxes (also because of the food industry in which they thrive and hide), put little back in to the economy because they only support other Muslim businesses who, like themselves, send all money they haven't squandered on themselves back to their homelands. They will never be Americans but will always be our unwelcomed houseguests from Hell.

Shut the hell up, bt. Did you have your head so far up your ass that you don't know who started this war? It was started long before they attacked up on 9'11. There are all sorts of websites who keep timelines on these assholes since the media won't. From the Cole to Lockerbie to pushing an old cripple overboard in his wheelchair, these people are devils and they've been doing evil for decades. And so are you if you don't support this war.

Go educate yourself your Liberal-assed self. Until then, sit the hell down and behave yourself until your mommy comes to get you.

Posted by: Joshua at July 3, 2008 11:15 AM

Hey Josh, great points! Starting off a comment with "shut the hell up" really makes a point.

See Josh, the thing is, I'm aware of Leon Klinghoffer (didn't even have to look up the name!), and all of your other examples. I'd hazard a guess that I'm probably at least as educated as you (God have mercy on my soul if I'm not). Reasonable people can disagree as to how much the war in Iraq actually constitutes the "war on terror". Clearly, you are not amongst that group, so I won't bother. You go on with your world view that 70 percent of this country, by your definition, are evil, and hate America and has it's head up it's ass, and that guys like you are the only ones who really know what's going on. No amount of reasoning will ever be able to change that.

Nice chatting with you.

Wow Bt you realy do have your head up you ass.
They fly hijacked planes into building and you defend them,, FU.

God Bless AMERICA and God Bless President BUSH.

I never notice any conservatives thanking Bill Clinton for keeping the country free of terrorist attacks for seven years.

What seven years was that? Was that the seven years during which American embassies in Africa were bombed by al Qaeda, during which the Khobar Towers were bombed, during which the USS Cole was bombed. And Clinton did exactly squat. (Except for send cruise missiles against an aspirin factory and a long-abandoned training camp to distract the media when he got in trouble on other matters.)

Seven years during which the 9-11 trained pilots in the USA to take off but not to land, and no one knew anything about it because the Clinton administration as a matter of policy did not allow the CIA and the FBI to share counter-terrorism information.

Seven years, during which the Clinton administration was offered Osama bin Laden by the government of Sudan, and refused.

Seven years, during which our military and intelligence capabilities were systematically gutted?

Thank Clinton? For doing nothing except molest interns in the Oval Office while international terrorism festered. No, I don't think we need to thank him for that.

Posted by: V the K at July 3, 2008 12:33 PM

Hey free, reading is a skill. At which point did I "defend" them? For the record, I work in the Sears tower, so I'm not a big fan of planes flying into buildings.

VtheK, I guess the terrorist bombings overseas count against Clinton's record, but the car bombs in Iraq don't count against Bush's record? So the Cole bombing IS a terrorist attack, but the 4,000 killed in Iraq don't count? Seems fair.

I see you are also trotting out the cia/fbi wall, and sudan points. The fact that both of them have been debunked doesn't matter, because, again, Clinton eats babies for breakfast. However, even if both of these "facts" were true, why didn't GWB correct these mistakes, or for that matter, do anything whatsoever concerning terrorism, in his first 9 months of office? I mean, if it is so obvious, shouldn't he have taken care of it the first day in office?

I don't mind arguing with you guys, but a little intellectual honesty would go a long way.

Posted by: bt at July 3, 2008 12:44 PM

BT conveniently ignores Clinton's illegal war on the Serbs.

WAR IS NOT THE ANSWER! (unless a Democrat is president)

Posted by: Kristy at July 3, 2008 1:12 PM

CoderinCrisis put it much better than I ever could. Bravo!
Tomorrow, I'm going to do things that will probably piss off that Satullo jerk: I will celebrate our fine country's Independence Day!
I'll probably set off a small bag of fireworks that I picked up, make a point of praying for the U.S. at least a couple times, maybe have a steak with my dad for dinner, and that night, I will go downtown to watch the city's big official fireworks show.
So, tomorrow, happy Independence Day, and God bless America!

Liberals like BT and Satullo spew hate for America and praise (Often INDIRECTLY, but sometimes DIRECTLY) the enemies of LIBERTY and HUMAN RIGHTS who want to impose a TOTALITARIAN RELIGION on the world. Liberals demand special rights for women, gays and blacks, yet say NOTHING when muslims murder these people as a matter of course. Liberals deride the Christian and Jewish religions as oppressive, yet are too SCARED to speak against the oppressive MUSLIM religion. Liberals cry MURDER when US solders ACCIDENTLY harm civilians, yet say NOTHING when muslims behead civilians on You-Tube or blow up children in schools. According to Liberals, acts simular to fraternity/sorority "hazing" is TORTURE when done by American solders, but acts far too HEINOUS to relate done by MUSLIMS are ignored.
Well.....

>The world sees this, even if we are too dim to grasp it.>

And the enemies of civilization conclude that Americans are the most STUPID people on Earth! They conclude that we NEED to be DESTROYED to keep our insanity from spreading!
The stupid Lefties backed up the communists durring the Viet Nam war and that keep them fighting for YEARS! It was YOUR PREDICESSORS that kept that war going and YOU LIBERALS are doing the same today! If you REALLY want the war to end, you should demand ALL-OUT WAR on islam!
But no, you want America to die, because you have been conditioned to hate President Bush by your neo-communist masters who are still following orders that came from Moscow in the 1950s!.

Posted by: KHarn at July 3, 2008 2:40 PM

They were debunked? Provide links... links to real sources, not Kos, wiki, or 911troof-dot-com.

Furthermore, Clinton sent his stooge, Sandy Berger, into the national archives to steal classified documents related to the administration's counter-terrorism policy failures. So much for having nothing to hide.

Posted by: V the K at July 3, 2008 2:55 PM

Personally, I don't like George W Bush, and I think some of his policies have sucked toad... but unlike Satullo, bt, and the rest of the "American's chickens are comin' home to roost" crowd, my love of country is not conditional on who is occupying the presidency. For that matter, I despise Reid, Pelosi and the other leftists who degrade our soldiers and try to quash our freedoms in the name of ever-expanding government. I'm not celebrating the government on the 4th, I'm celebrating the American ideal... limited government, individual liberty, God-given rights to those who honor them. And, yes, a recognition of the steps that sometimes must be taken in defense of that ideal and those values against those who would destroy them, whether it be in the name of sharia, socialism, or environmentalism.

Those who hate such things are welcome to spend their fourth bitterly clinging to their chardonnay and arugula.

Posted by: V the K at July 3, 2008 3:22 PM

Why is bt arousing so much frothing at the mouth? Sounds pretty measured, to me, even if I don't agree with much. Satullo is a preening ass.

IMO, Bush can't get back to weed wacking the brush around his ranch fast enough, yet I don't look forward to either McCain or Obama. Still a great country. As V the K says, "I'm not celebrating the government on the 4th,; I'm celebrating the American ideal."

Consternation to the enemies of the Republic!

Posted by: avalon at July 3, 2008 7:56 PM

bt, I don't like Bush nor do I consider him a true conservatve. But he sure as heck is better than Clinton. Clinton could have gone after Bin Laden after the Cole. He had intellegence about where he was. Instead he sat on his rear.

Posted by: mandy at July 4, 2008 5:33 AM

Hey Satullo! You and me in the street, stripped to the waist. Bare knuckles and go for it. I win and you shut your useless pie-hole and go home. You win. That ain't gonna happen.

Wonderful post Coder, and well said.

BT: Having been a lifelong Democrat and having voted for Clinton, I can tell you what "changed me".
Conservatives will give you facts that their thinking is based on and assume nothing. If you give them "real facts" that debunk their viewpoint, the acknowledge it and alter their thinking or give you evidence why they still hold to their views. Liberals "take other peoples word for what they "want to believe" but seldom dig in and research their beliefs. The tell you that something you present to them has been "debunked" but give you no links or information to demonstrate that the debunking is real. I thank God daily for opening my eyes and helping me find the truths that have changed my belief system forever.

Posted by: HoosierArmyMom at July 4, 2008 9:42 AM

Sorry... typo queen here.

"The tell you that..."

Should read: "Liberals tell you that...

My suggestion... if you can't produce evidence, don't comment. These people do their research and know facts to support what they believe.

Just for the record, I called the Philadephia Inquirer today at about 11 AM Eastern time, and Satullo's voicemail said that he did indeed take today off.

Hello,
Thanks for your email. Due to the volume of responses to a recent column, it's not possible for me to reply individually to every person who sends a note, which is what I normally do. I do appreciate your taking the time to write in.
I hope you enjoy your holiday weekend - with whatever observances you choose.

"with whatever observances you choose." Isn't that special!!

Sounds like an automated moonbat response system to ward off "truth and common sense" responses. Can't have Mr. Satullo's head exploding now can we?
