Foreign Policy Magazine's Top 20 Intellectuals
The snooty intellectual elite, as represented by Foreign Policy magazine and its readers, has selected the top 20 intellectuals of our time. Here's the top 10:
1. Fethullah Gülen
2. Muhammad Yunus
3. Yusuf Al-Qaradawi
4. Orhan Pamuk
5. Aitzaz Ahsan
6. Amr Khaled
7. Abdolkarim Soroush
8. Tariq Ramadan
9. Mahmood Mamdani
10. Shirin Ebadi
What a coincidence: all appear to be Muslims. If it had been Shintoists who flew planes into the World Trade Center 7 years ago, the top 10 names would have been Japanese.
From there, the list veers even farther into farce, with juvenile America-hater Noam Chomsky at #11 and demagogic snake oil salesman Al Gore at #12. Liberal comedian Stephen Colbert was the top write-in candidate.

On a tip from nanc.

Is Foreign Policy magazine published in Turkey or Pakistan?

What did those top 10 invent? Cancer cures? New energy sources? A new food source to wipe out hunger?
No - according to their bios they are muslim clerics, lawyers, and politicians. In short, just as with Al Gore; they are leaches on society. Well - except for the one guy who is really, really rich and so gives away money - in other words, he bought his way onto the list.
At least Algore invented the internet.

Ah - some insite directy from the website:
"No one spread the word as effectively as the man who tops the list. In early May, the Top 100 list was mentioned on the front page of Zaman, a Turkish daily newspaper closely aligned with Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen. Within hours, votes in his favor began to pour in. His supporters—typically educated, upwardly mobile Muslims—were eager to cast ballots not only for their champion but for other Muslims in the Top 100. Thanks to this groundswell, the top 10 public intellectuals in this year’s reader poll are all Muslim."

I notice that Lynn E. Newhouse is an associate publisher and General Manager.
Is this another Newhouse from the newspaper owning Newhouses?
If so, that explains a lot. The Oregonian is one of the worst newspapers in the country.

With top intellectuals like them, I smell another war coming. A different kind of war. A conflict of the masses against the socialist elites. Preparations are being made. It may have already begun, and I just don't know it. But, I'm getting a little pissed, and a little suspicious. I've already got handguns, if it should get to that, only because rational thinking and facts don't always work with fantasists.
Alot of intellectuals eat their own product, once, and proclaim it good for all the people, forever.
