Brit Gets £30 Fine for Smoking in His Car

Any Britons who think they are safe from the Nanny State when in the privacy of their own vehicles had better think again:

A painter and decorator from Ceredigion says he is "dumbfounded" after being slapped with a £30 fine for smoking a cigarette in his own van.
Gordon Williams says he had popped to the shops earlier this month [to buy tea for his wife], when he was pulled over by council officials.
"I was told that because my van is my place of work I had broken the smoking laws," he said. […] "I am dumbfounded — the van is only insured for private use and to get me to and from work," added Mr Williams, from Llanafan, near Aberystwyth.
"It['s] not my place of work — I decorate houses not vans."

Tell it to the judge, you potential drain on the socialized healthcare service!

On a tip from mega.

Did they bring in a haz-mat team and execute a proper hazardous waste abatement plan?

Hopefully, Gordon Williams was decontaminated before going back home. Wouldn't want to give his wife cancer from his second-hand smoke.

A man can't smoke in his own car in Airstrip One, but he is allowed to apply eyeliner.

BTW, the leftist government in Airstrip One has over 1,000 laws that let authorities invade the homes of British subjects, including laws letting them invade a subject's home to check for forbidden plants, genetically modified food, bin tax violations, and to confiscate a subject's refrigerator if the energy rating is insufficient.

Great Britain is no longer 'Great'. The loons have completely taken over.

If a gang of toughs attacks you and you don't surrender and die, or at least run away the courts will send you to jail. No lie. I was there in '63 to '66. A Great time for Great Britain. Those days are gone now. A pity. America is next.

Never mind the fact that inhaling his idling van's fumes is far more immediately hazardous to the health...
