Bin Laden Associate Wasn't Mirandized
It took less than seven years from September 11 for moonbattery to corrode our response into a farce.
Osama bin Laden's driver Salim Hamdan, who has been incarcerated for war crimes for his involvement in the 9/11 atrocities, was not read the Miranda spiel. This appears to be a major stumbling block in the case against him, along with allegations that he didn't get enough sleep while vacationing at Club Gitmo.
Barack Hussein Obama should be congratulated on his foresight. In the immediate aftermath of 9/11, he was one of the few primarily concerned with how the event might negatively impact foreign terrorists. Now the mollycoddling of foreign terrorists seems to be our only concern.
One thing is clear: Osama bin Laden must never be captured. After an O.J.-style carnival trial at massive taxpayer expense, he would no doubt be freed on a technicality. From there he would have his choice of chairing the Department of Middle Eastern Studies at Columbia, hosting a talk show on MSNBC, or assuming a cabinet position in the Obama Administration. Since we soon won't even allow ourselves to interrogate them, terrorists need to be killed on sight.

On a tip from Wiggins.

Regardless of your good intentions, the photo of an American falling to his death on 9/11 is disturbing. Families of loved ones here in New York see these photos and it causes them understandable distress. Honor the victims. Remember the victims. Do not show sensational photos of men and women falling to their deaths.

Once Salim Hamdan is let off (and he will be, the moonbats will see to that), he'll probably be offered tenure at Berkeley. And as much as I hate to say it, there is a reason people must be informed of their rights when they are arrested - it is to avoid abuses of power of overzealous (if well-meaning) policemen. It would suck if he gets off on a technicality, but it is the police's job to apprise a prisoner of his rights. You would think that by now it would be so ingrained in them that they would just do it out of habit.

Our fighting forces are not policemen any more than policemen are members of the armed services. Expecting them to operate as such is counterproductive to both police work and to fighting wars.

Pali Walls,
I must respectfully disagree with you. We say "9/11" and "tragedy" and "we will never forget" but it is human nature to forget such painful memories. We must be reminded graphically in order to restore some of that pain and keep up the fight.

I LIKE IT!!!!

Amen, Lyle. We live in a time when some of the most influential arguments against fascism are embodied in the graphic images of the Holocaust... and even then some people manage to forget it or deny it ever happened. What a world...

The "truthers" would like for these images to be supressed, it would make their job easier if they can keep an aura of "illusion" alive. There are people who find the ACT OF WAR on Sept. 11 hard to believe because it's too "fantastic", it was an act of incredible audacity (NOT "courage") and there are people who don't believe such things are possible. Such a blatent disreguard for humanity is beyond certain people's understanding and it was this way in World War Two also.
I had an E-Mail discussion with a woman who accused the U.S. government of covering up the systematic genocide of Jews and other "undesireables". I told her that that was TRUE, but not the way she thought; the reasoning then was (And still applies today) "if HUNDREDS of people are killed on the orders of a government people will say that it's a monsterous act, if TENS OF THOUSANDS are murdered, people will ask 'are you sure about that?'. But if you say that MILLIONS are being murdered, people will call you a LIER".

I believe the correct phrase is "take no prisoners!"

Let's not give in to the terrorists so easily. The take captives without the protections supplied by our Bill of rights. They kill without trail. Let's not stoop quite so low.

Our liberal judges decided that the terrorists who would happily murder every last one of us, regardless of our legal rights are entitled to the same rights as a US citizen. Coddling those who want to wipe us off the face of the earth is the leftwing way!

SYBIL,
Trials are not reserved for prisoners of war except in cases when they commit crimes contrary to military, or civilian codes of law. The rules of war and the Geniva Convention CLEARLY state that anyone captured under arms, but not wearing a recognised uniform, or cannot prove that they are part of a military organisation (Including geurillas, malitia and other irregulars) can be SHOT ON THE SPOT without trial.
This is what our solders have NOT been doing!

One could easily argue the same reason for publishing photos of killed American soldiers in Iraq. Don't cry moonbat when it's obvious wingnuttery is just as bad...

I suppose the difference death of someone who died knowing the risks and somebody who died as a victim is too difficult for you to understand?
