APS Confesses: Emperor Has No Clothes
Even as the Goracle ratchets up his shrill rhetoric, the wheels have begun to come off the global warming hoax. You can fool some of the people some of the time, but how long can you keep lying about the weather? Even the scientific establishment, which has a major financial stake in keeping climate change hysteria in high gear, is beginning to admit that Prince Albert's new clothes consist of his birthday suit. From DailyTech:
The American Physical Society, an organization representing nearly 50,000 physicists, has reversed its stance on climate change and is now proclaiming that many of its members disbelieve in human-induced global warming. The APS is also sponsoring public debate on the validity of global warming science. The leadership of the society had previously called the evidence for global warming "incontrovertible."
In a posting to the APS forum, editor Jeffrey Marque explains,"There is a considerable presence within the scientific community of people who do not agree with the IPCC conclusion that anthropogenic CO2 emissions are very probably likely to be primarily responsible for global warming that has occurred since the Industrial Revolution."
The APS is opening its debate with the publication of a paper by Lord Monckton of Brenchley, which concludes that climate sensitivity — the rate of temperature change a given amount of greenhouse gas will cause — has been grossly overstated by IPCC modeling. A low sensitivity implies additional atmospheric CO2 will have little effect on global climate.
That might explain why temperatures have been going down for the last 10 years and are expected to continue to do so for another decade, even while CO2 levels go up — to the great benefit of agriculture.
But the fact that CO2 does not cause global warming, which is no longer even happening, isn't enough to stop the International Energy Agency from proposing that we spend $45 trillion (not a typo) to combat it. By spending three times the size of the entire US economy, we could allegedly cut the harmless carbon emissions generated in energy production by one half. Emissions form agriculture, transportation, construction, et cetera aren't included. If the problem were real, the $45 trillion would barely put a dent in it, though it would probably plunge the world economy into depression.
Thankfully, it looks like we will pull back from the edge, before enviromoonbattery causes us to plunge into the abyss.

The "crimes against humanity" courts are going to be awfully full, aren't they? So when will these deniers be stripped of their academic credentials, tried for their crimes, and run out of town on a rail?
What do you mean, they're right?

What you of course didn't mention was the follow up news release by the same organization today which said that the group responsible for the latest skeptisism of global warming represents but just a few of the scientists (
I understand facts are the missing link in the right sides evolution - we all know that. But to continue to deny humans are responsible for some of the ills of this planet is mystifying. Your children want a clean, livable planet. Why can't the right side do what Jesus would do?

Fred, do you speak English ? If so, do you actually have a point you were trying, however vainly, to make ?
What part of the APS REVERSING their position are you having trouble with - other than that the position now is heretical in your jejune view?
Why is it that leftoids ond others of your ilk are so scientifically illiterate ? Why is it that you and you ilk have some fantasy that Earth has an ideal static state ? Why is it that you and your ilk fail to countenance the fact that the Earth has transformed from a gaseous blob, to a water world to having one single continent, to an iceball, and other various combinations - many of which caused the mass extinction of species - long before man ever came along ? Why is it the only countries that actually worry about pollution are the industrial ones (hint - we can afford to) ? Why is it that you fail to realize thatb the air and water of major cities are cleaner now then 100 years ago because of cars, clean coal, electricity, and other things you hate ? Why are you so bloody stupid to realize that man cannot "destroy" the planet - all we can do is make it not match you infantile fantasy of what you wish it were.
Sorry - no rainbow unicorns for you.

Gee Fred, What WOULD Jesus do? I think he would practice what he preached. If the Bible is right, he did. Unlike Jesus, the Goracle and most other politicans who promote Global Warming drive around in fancy jets and drive SUVs with the AC blasting. I'm not saying we should trash the planet, far from it. What I am saying is MAN MADE Global Warming is a croc used by politicans to harness more power and money from the masses.
An actual fact: This is really Global warming, but it's natural. I wrote a short paper on it for a college course. If there were no natural global warming, life on earth would cease to exist. It is the process in which certain gases, like water vapor, are released into the atmosphere. These gases trap in heat from sun light, so the earth stays warm. If these gases were not in place, the heat would escape into space, and everything on earth would freeze.
The largest greenhouse gas by far is WATER VAPOR, which accounts for about >>98%
Oh, fred the warmest period in earth’s history was actually between >>800 to 1200 AD,

In fact, the APS page at www.aps.org now says they haven't changed their position, even if "an online newsletter of the APS Forum on Physics and Society" said they did:
APS Climate Change Statement
APS Position Remains Unchanged
The American Physical Society reaffirms the following position on climate change, adopted by its governing body, the APS Council, on November 18, 2007:
"Emissions of greenhouse gases from human activities are changing the atmosphere in ways that affect the Earth's climate."
An article at odds with this statement recently appeared in an online newsletter of the APS Forum on Physics and Society, one of 39 units of APS. The header of this newsletter carries the statement that "Opinions expressed are those of the authors alone and do not necessarily reflect the views of the APS or of the Forum." This newsletter is not a journal of the APS and it is not peer reviewed.

Yeah, we got hosed on this one guys.
Posted by: vonster at July 18, 2008 11:58 AM
OK, APS has not reversed its position.
But the guy saying they should call for papers exploring other scenarios for warming/cooling/stasis is a top official of the organization. Is it a lone voice? Will the APS board discuss this? Will they allow debate?
Stay tuned.

Al Gore The Hypocrit has proclamed that CO2 causes "global warming". HIS OWN evidence shows that CO2 levels rise a hundred years or more AFTER tempatures rise.
In short, you guilt-ridden Liberals have been CONNED!
How many times do we have to point this out before you tar and feather this jerk?

KHarn - it's 800 years after temperature rise.

APS has not reversed its position - which is to call for more concrete research than what the IPCC offers as 'irrefutable proof'.
Because the complexity of the climate makes accurate prediction difficult, the APS urges an enhanced effort to understand the effects of human activity on the Earth’s climate, and to provide the technological options for meeting the climate challenge in the near and longer terms. The APS also urges governments, universities, national laboratories and its membership to support policies and actions that will reduce the emission of greenhouse gases.

And btw, $45 trillion cartoon.

"KHarn - it's 800 years after temperature rise."
Thanks, BH. I had forgotten the numbers, that's why I spoke generaly in my other posts.

Well said.
Posted by: conservativeteen at July 18, 2008 10:22 AM
and right on!
I can't believe the left can't read anything that doesn't agree with their opinions.
Our plant has gone through changes throughout it's history. And the Goracle is a thief and hypocrite. The left is just fattening up his bank account so he can keep spewing enough CO2 for 100s of people at a time, into the atmosphere. What a joke!
