AP Celebrates Fourth by Wallowing in Gloom

I hope you enjoyed your Fourth of July weekend more than the moonbats at AP, who predictably spent it wallowing in gloom. We're told that even the Optimists Club can hardly find a reason for America to go on living:

They use words such as "terrified," "disgusted" and "scary" to describe what one calls "this mess" we Americans find ourselves in. Then comes the list of problems constituting the mess: a protracted war, $4-a-gallon gas, soaring food prices, uncertainty about jobs, an erratic stock market, a tougher housing market, and so on and so forth. […] Happy birthday, America? This year, we're not so sure.

Even AP admits:

In 2008, using history as a yardstick, life actually is better and richer and fuller, with more opportunities than ever before.

Nevertheless, there is an election coming up and Republicans hold the White House, so we must be convinced that we're desperate for change. This is attempted by cherry-picking morose comments from pessimists, then spinning them with rhetoric like this:

The nation's psyche is battered and bruised, the sense of pessimism palpable. Young or old, Republican or Democrat, economically stable or struggling, Americans are questioning where they are and where they are going. And they wonder who or what might ride to their rescue.

I wonder who they might have in mind.

The Obamessiah will climb on his steed and ride to our rescue.

On a tip from mega.

On a related note from the MSM, try not to laugh too hard, but the New York Times slams FoxNews for "a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/07/business/media/07carr.html?_r=2&oref=slogin&pagewanted=print">"setting aside the conventions of bloodless objectivity...". The New York Times slamming FoxNews for being biased is like Rosie O'Donnell telling Britney Spears she needs to watch what she eats.

If America could come back from the Great Depression, we can come back from this one. Of course, they didn't have moonbats back then, either.

conservateen honey, they did have moonbats and commies. Charlie Chaplin's career was affected by his involvement in the American Communist Party. See, back then there were enough "real Americans" who appreciated our constitution and freedom that they simply would not support those people so we didn't have as many. Now it seems we have an infestation!

bring back McCarthyism!

I note in the news this morning Yomama is going to 'kick off' the Obamanation from Mile High Stadium. It seats about 75,000 not including all the space on the field that can be filled with people. (I bet left field will be standing room only.)

For "maximum effect" I'm certain he intends to fill the place to the brim with his worshipers - even if he has to bus in thousands from Chicago and Detroit.

What an arrogant asshat.

Obamassiah will come to my emotional rescue!

Ive read a lot about comparisons of Bush to Hitler recently(yes, bunk but you'd be amazed at the leaps in logic they take, of course if theyre even telling the truth about history at all) but what disturbed me was being in the gym one day and seeing an Obama supporter with a new t-shirt on. The shading, the tilt of the head the overall pose instantly made me think of CHe Guevara. Its amazing to me how moonbats, by their own standards, are wanting to replace one "dictator" with another.

Hmmmm, let's see:

  • Protracted war: Supported initially by many on the left, who now predictably would love to abandon the soldiers they sent over there to save their own political hides.
  • $4 gas: The lefty environmentalists won't let us drill for more oil.
  • Soaring food prices: caused by the ethanol mandates pushed for by the moonbat left. Aided in this endeavor by Republicans who should have known better.
  • Uncertainty about jobs: A complicated issue. Our government (both parties) spending money like an asteroid is about to wipe out the Earth and devaluing the dollar isn;t helping anything. Neither is the specter of "windfall profits" taxes and other such nonsense - who wants to invest in their business if the government may just decide to come in and take it all? You can throw the minimum wage hikes in this point as well.
  • Tougher housing market: Depends which side of the fence you are standing on. If you way-overpaid for a home you can't really afford, or if you took out a bunch of equity, then you're probably hurting. If you are looking to buy a home, especially for first-time buyers, the market is in your favor. Remember, it was a sub-prime mortgage crisis, which doesn't affect the vast majority of people.

The people longing for "change" to rescue us from this fate may get it, alright. Instead of merely inconvenient, things might get really bad if we let a bunch of statists run wild, suck the wealth out of the productive part of the population, and give it to the unproductive part. Their naive (at best) and evil (at worst) policies could cripple us for years, as every other experiment in socialism worldwide has shown.

Coder, that sums it up very nicely.

Posted by: HoosierArmyMom at July 7, 2008 1:35 PM

Brilliant points, Coder!

Productive part of our population? So what did
you get a Nobel Prize for, Mr. Doe? I love all
you high school drop-outs who think you are so
"productive" because you can drive a fork lift.
Well have fun. The new Chinese owners of the
warehouse will probably bring their nephews over
from Bejing to show you how it should be done.

What will our side do when the lefties shout "New McCarthyism"! when we start to drill down close to the nerve? HHHhhhmmmmm? Should we say Obama is just another Lenin in Democrats' clothing?

Mutha looks like a "public school" kind of guy. He quotes one guy and names another in his post!

Do the math. People who work for a living pay the taxes, which Obama has a strong record of raising them, and the "entitlement programs" always give taxpayer dollars to people who don't work. The Chinese have been lending massive amounts to the American Government daily... why? To fund all those Earmarks and entitlement programs! If the Chinese OWN us, you can thank a career politician near you and the Democrats who like to take the working man's money and to pay for a crack addicts lifestyle or for some young girl to pop out babies like there's no tomorrow. Judging by your comment and your lack of comprehension, I'd say you are most likely the "Drop-Out - Fork Truck Driver".
