The Hazards of Laughing in Airstrip One

Inmates of Airstrip One who seek solace in humor had better make sure they don't get carried away. Paul Cocker of Blackburn, Lancashire laughed so hard at a TV show that he fell off the couch. His downstairs neighbor heard the thud and called the police. Then it got ugly.

When officers arrived, Cocker told them he was fine. But when they started demanding personal details, he tried to shut the door on them, and soon found himself maced and handcuffed in the back of a police truck, then stripped naked and thrown in a cell.

He pleaded guilty to resisting a police officer and was given six months conditional discharge.

Let that be a lesson; it's best to assume Big Brother is always watching, even if you're just laying on the couch watching TV.

On a tip from James K.

Good thing they don't live in Bush's police state.

Jolly Old England - not as jolly as it used to be, apparently.

Anything that happens, anywhere in the world, will always bring the same response from "certain people", a lash out at Bush.

Mugabe hires goons to brutaly murder his opponent's wife, gotta be Bush's fault, right?

A dozen illegals found hiding in an attic in the UK...of course, that's a perfect excuse to somehow drag Bush into it.

You see, ANYthing can be a pretext for BDS. You need not know anything about Bush or his policies, your comrades don't either, and don't expect you to. It's just a knee-jerk reaction. Bush's fault, Bush did this, Bush did that, blah blah blah.

You'd think that over time they would get tired of their own meaningless rhetoric, you'd be wrong. In 40-50 years time the next generation will look at us and laugh, or look at the lefties and laugh, just like we do the hippies of the 60's.

Sounds like the guy should have cooperated with the officers. Bet he will next time. :)
