Pledge of Allegiance Banned to Please Muslims
From Portland, another indication of the caliber of the people who have been entrusted with educating the next generation:
Most children growing up in the US memorize the Pledge of Allegiance. But, in one Oregon elementary school, the kids won't be allowed to recite it at an end of the year assembly. The principal banned it that day so as not to offend Muslims.
The principal's explicit excuse was that Muslims wouldn't like the reference to God.
Since 9/11, no good liberal would fail to pander to Islam. But as it turns out, Muslims actually believe in a higher intelligence. They say prayers and everything. Who knew?
On tips from Smoke TNT and mega.

Wait a minute. If someone is offended by the Pledge, then he or she is likely an enemy of this country. Why the hell are we worried about offending our ENEMIES?

Also -
For years the moonbats have been saying that the God of Christianity is the same as the god of islam so we have little to fear from the muzzies. I love how they contradict that belief by doing things like banning the pledge because our God isn't their god. Hypocrisy much?

For what it's worth, I saw a news report on the Portland case and it suggested that at least a few local moderate Muslims were offended themselves by the ban.
[As I don't watch much MSM News, I think it was the same case.]

Liberals are suicidal morons who are determined to take everyone with them. There isn't a living liberal who is any different than a dead muslim homicide bomber: Same mentality, dangerous morality.

The article said there hadn't been a single complaint from a Moslem. That puts this case into the UK/Europe type of scenario, where bureaucrats pre-emptively make moves they think will appease or avoid the ire of the Moslem invaders. Sometimes it's so ridiculous that even the invaders are embarrassed, as in this case.

Fire the School Official - oh, it's Portland.

Yeah, some of the local Muslims were offended by the decision, which is a breath of fresh air considering the countless other cases of Muslims suing and forcing similar situations on a daily basis. I wish more Muslims who are against actions like the one Oregon, would stand up and be heard on many of these other issues.

I'd have thought that the reference to God would be the least objectionable part of the Pledge for members of the Ummah, but declaring allegiance to a kuffocracy could be a problem. Here's an alternate Pledge that the DNC used at one of its 2007 winter meeting. Adopt this language, then we can all rest in peace:
"In the name of God the most merciful, the most compassionate. We thank you, God, to bless us among your creations. We thank you, God, to make us as a great nation. We thank you God, to send us your messages through our father Abraham and Moses and Jesus and Mohammed. Through you, God, we unite. So guide us to the right path. The path of the people you bless, not the path of the people you doom. Help us, God, to liberate and fill this earth with justice and peace and love and equality. And help us to stop the war and violence, and oppression and occupation. Ameen"

Considering the Socialist roots of the Pledge of Allegiance, I'd rather it not even be said at all by school children. Too much Statist crap is fed to them as it is. We'd be better served as a country by turning out (classical) Liberals instead of Socialist cogs like we're doing now. Children need to be taught the 3 Rs at the minimum and the rest should be viewed with skepticism.
If the kids have to pledge an oath to something, let them do it to the Constitution of the United States!

Nice sentiment but it is erroneous and blasphemous. Jesus is God and Son of God, the fulfillment of Who Abraham and Moses awaited. This is not an opinion. This is fact. The miracles are backed up by history as documented even by the enemies of Christ, and they continue to this day.
Mohammed was just a crazed desert rat. Besides, you left out Gaia, all the Hindu gods and the ones I am sure someone is inventing at this very moment.

You got it right, Tom.

Must not offend Moslems, but years of offending atheists (under gravity) and polytheists (who would prefer "gods") just fine.
Amazing, too, that noone has yet mentioned that the "under g@d" phrase was a late (well, 1950s) addition and can be left out.
