Ever notice what disdain homosexuals had for marriage...until it became an issue for them? Suddenly, all they protest about is "Gay Marriage".

It's interesting that in 2000, gay marriage was an issue with voters. Today, no one really cares. Back when we had it made, you know- people had jobs, able to keep their homes, education and medicine was affordable, fuel was about a buck a gallon, the country was at peace and out of debt, the constitution was more than "a goddamn piece of paper", before the fall of the middle class, and the country was nowhere near as divided as it is today, things like gay marriages somewhat disturbed people. Now, with so many abject failures from our government, everyone has too much to worry about to care if a couple a faggots a few miles down the road are doing the nasty nasty.

It's not so much a desire to make marriage meaningless as one to find a new way to suck the marrow out of the government. The bitching about equality usually stops as soon as you bring up the idea of "civil unions." Why? Because, they argue, a civil union doesn't entitle you to the various and sundry benefits from both the state and federal governments that are given to married couples. Thus it's not "equal" to marriage.

Supposing this remains the law in CA, the next step will be to start demanding any companies still stupid enough to do business in the state to "get with the program." These couples will now go their employer, marriage license in hand, and demand they get all the same perks and benefits that heterosexual couples do. The first company that balks will be dragged into the court of public opinion, publicly flogged for not being "sensitive" or embracing "diversity," and then punished by legislative decree as a warning to any other company that would consider standing on principles.

What I'm waiting for now is when somebody decides to demand that the "right" to marry be expanded to include polygamy. Watching the same people right now screaming that gay couples have the "right" to be married turning around and screaming that it's wrong that people should be able to have more than one husband or more than one wife.

Marriage is a SECULAR institution now, not a religious one. You HAVE to have the Government's ok to get married else your marriage is not considered binding in a court of law.
