Britons Aren't Buying Global Warming Hoax

At last, some good news from Britain. Despite having been subjected to a relentless barrage of propaganda, Britons still aren't buying the global warming hoax.

The majority of the British public is still not convinced that climate change is caused by humans — and many others believe scientists are exaggerating the problem, according to an exclusive poll for The Observer.
The results have shocked campaigners who hoped that doubts would have been silenced by a report last year by more than 2,500 scientists for the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which found a 90 per cent chance that humans were the main cause of climate change and warned that drastic action was needed to cut greenhouse gas emissions.

Imagine that: people aren't convinced by the self-serving lies shouted by the power-mad bureauweenies on the hyper-politicized IPCC. Despite the mainstream media's efforts to suppress it, word must have gotten out to the public about actual scientists on the IPCC so appalled by this prostitution of science in the name of totalitarianism as to renounce the Nobel Prize, or the long list of top scientists who petitioned the UN to stop pushing this malignant hoax.

Meanwhile, the British government is about to announce plans for a tax hike/power grab that will supposedly reduce the country's harmless greenhouse gas emissions by 20%. The revelation that so many victims still have their eyes open is unwelcome news to Jonathan Porritt of the bureaucracy's Sustainable Development Commission, who complains:

It's disappointing and the government will be really worried. They [politicians] need the context in which they're developing new policies to be a lot stronger and more positive. Otherwise the potential for backlash and unpopularity is considerable.

Let's hope so. Already it's starting to soak in that anything the establishment goes out of its way to get you to believe almost certainly isn't true.

On a tip from mega.

I thought the most interesting part of the article was the hope that "doubts would be silenced" by a scientific report. The notion that science should make people stop asking questions is a thoroughly modern, PC one. It's fully in line with what the UN and most of the western world want nowadays, but is quite the opposite of what science was supposed to be about.

Posted by: mega at June 22, 2008 10:46 AM

Maybe there is hope for Britain after all.

Posted by: Anonymous at June 22, 2008 12:13 PM

Good to see that the Brits are "wising up." Follow the money, folks -- all the grants (essentially free money, provided by you and me, the taxpayers of this nation), et al., going to these bought-and-paid-for "scientists" to promulgate this gigantic scam; once they've locked up their funding this way, they'll say ANYTHING at all to advance their so-called cause.

As for the IPCC, the old saying "GIGO" (garbage in, garbage out) certainly applies to that bunch of scum. Why anyone would believe a damn word the U.N. says is beyond me.

Posted by: jc14 at June 22, 2008 12:17 PM

How do you know its a hoax?

Don't you respect the world's top scientists? I think they know better than right wing politicians.

Posted by: Lee at June 22, 2008 12:21 PM

Its scary that hard right ideologues try to discredit and silence the world's most accomplished and respected scientists. The war against science is scary.

Its like the Nazis' war on science.

Posted by: Lee at June 22, 2008 12:27 PM

Lee...you really did stumble on the wrong website. Let me suggest you try this:

http://www.junkscience.com/

You might be surprised that there isn't, in fact, a "consensus" among scientists (an oxymoron, by the way). Not everyone that doesn't believe this stuff (i.e. isn't drinking Al Gore's Kool Aid) is a "right wing politician".

NO TO SOCIALISM. DUMP THE U.N. DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW.

Posted by: matt at June 22, 2008 12:29 PM

...and Lee, true to liberal progressive form, immediately goes for the "Nazi, demonization" card. "You DARE to not see it our way? YOU ARE A NAZI."

You, Lee, are either agenda driven (i.e. you know it's a hoax, but are using it in hopes of breaking the U.S. economy and culture, and foisting socialism in it's aftermath) or you are a dupe.

The debate is over. The consensus is in. 12,175,743 political scientists agree. You are one or the other. Hey, at least I'm not calling you a Nazi.

Posted by: matt at June 22, 2008 12:45 PM

Woah! Lee with the funniest comment I have read in quite a long time. If memory serves, and it does, no one has been silenced, except those who have spoken out against anthropogenic global warming. Heck, wasn't it some Weather Channel twit who said that any meteorologist that doesn't hold the "Man is at fault" line should have their AMA credentials yanked? Yup.

Lee, we are not discrediting them in particular, but their viewpoints. Unlike the Left, we tend to go after the issue, not the person. Excepting Al Gore, who, guess what, Lee? Is not a scientist!

Posted by: William Teach at June 22, 2008 12:59 PM

Lee,
Regarding "the world's top scientists": Since "global warming" is a weather/climate related situation, you would assume that climatologists/meteoroligists would be the LARGEST group of scientists pushing this issue, wouldn't you?
Wouldn't you say that these types are the EXPERTS in this area?
Most (homework assignment, Lee: do a "Google" search) climatologists agree that this "global warming" is a NATURAL RECURRING PHENOMENON!!! (Is Algore a climatologist? a meteorologist? a wanker???)
Most of the "scientists" clamoring for "global warming is the end of the world in 7 weeks" are working OUT OF THEIR AREAS OF EXPERTISE.
Read "Scientific American", not the democratic party science platform.

"Here we have a true Lightworker," explained Alexis Virago, High Harridan of the Church of the Holy Hooter (commonly known as the Boobtists). "He is probably not really human, or at least not totally human; I suspect that his father was a spiritual being residing temporarily in physical form in order to accomplish The Obama's incarnation."

30,000 scientists say manmade global warming is a hoax.

Health Alert if you own a Prius.

Not to mention that a Prius cause more environmental damage over its lifespan than the carbon it saves when the owner drives it. But it still has a ‘Smug Effect’ (South Park remark).

The facts about ManBearPig have been stated to Lee repeatedly, but he pretends they haven't.

2,500 scientists say manmade global warming is a fact.

Most of those aren't scientists, but scienticians. It's unsurprising that when politicians wave grant money in front of scientists to "prove" AGW exists, a lot of scienticians will suddenly come up with research to "prove" it exists.

Posted by: V the K at June 22, 2008 1:57 PM

Our pal Lee was just another hit-and-run enviro-lib sniper. They come into a site, scream and shriek like one of those tree-sitters in Berkeley, then slink off when they find out that they are with intelligent people.

"Oops, screaming "Nazi" and invoking the words "environment" and "scientist" isn't working. Time to move on..."

What the heck is a "Scientician"? Just askin'!!

Posted by: codekeyguy at June 22, 2008 3:12 PM

Global Warming hysteria, and its ridiculously expensive, restrictive, and ineffective socialist reactions is one big scam. It's being used as an excuse to institute all manner of bad ideas.

This is true regardless of the truth of the theory of man made global warming. It's a case of the cure being worse than the disease, if the "disease" exists at all.

Posted by: forest at June 22, 2008 3:17 PM

What the heck is a "Scientician"?

Someone who is less of a scientist, and more of a politician. Someone who misuses "science" to achieve a political end.

Posted by: V the K at June 22, 2008 4:18 PM

Gorebal Worming is just another socialist scam to exert control. It has nothing to do with "science", per say. When you compare the multi-gigawatts of energy that pours down on Earth from the sun every day with the Human output it's like comparing the Oceans to swimming pools. AGW will go down as one of the most rediculous scams in human history.

One of the frustrating things about reading articles like that is when whey mention the 2500 scientists from the UN IPCC but consistently refuse to mention any opposition, such as the 31,000 U.S. scientists who declared it a hoax, mentioned by other posters here. Those articles simply become part of the propoganda itself, instead of reliable news sources.

A good write up about that here.

In case Lee comes back, I'll answer his objections.

1: "How do you know its a hoax?"
Because nothing has been proven, only computer simulations of what MIGHT happen IF the trend continues have been offered. Better yet, selling carbon credits is a scam.
2: "Don't you respect the world's top scientists?"
What exactly is a "top scientist"? Do they hold contests, or turn in papers to be graded by some high authority?
3: "I think they know better than right wing politicians."
Do you think they know better than LEFT WING polititions?
4: "Its scary that hard right ideologues try to discredit and silence the world's most accomplished and respected scientists."
As it has been pointed out above, the only people who are "being silenced" are those who QUESTION 'global warming'.
5: "The war against science is scary."
Yes it is, people like YOU should stop trying to prevent honest research.
6: "Its like the Nazis' war on science."
You mean like when the Nazis prevented the development of the most advanced helicopters, submarines, rockets. jet planes and banned nuclear research in the the early forties?

Lee, you say that 2,500 scientists agreeing on something makes it true, but you fail to admit that about 600 had publicly denounced the paper and demanded that their names be removed from it because they had OBJECTED to it BEFORE the paper was released. Also, if you think a VOTE settles the matter, it was pointed out that over 30,000 scientists said that 'global warming' was NOT caused by mankind!
Besides, dozens of "your" scientists have said that reducing carbon emissions as much as the "gorians" have demanded would NOT have any effect on 'global warming'.

Posted by: Anonymous at June 22, 2008 5:03 PM

And it's not getting warmer to boot.

Anon, I don't get Lee's crack about the Nazis being anti-science either. They developed some very nasty artillery and advanced armor piercing rounds along with the stuff you mentioned. The wicked little Panzerfaust is an innovation that is still with us today too in more advanced forms, much to the chagrin of tank and other vehicle crews.

It's a good thing today's totalitarian supremacists are usually too backward to develop or produce anything like the Nazis did.

Posted by: forest at June 22, 2008 5:24 PM

Lee pops up every few months and leaves pretty much the same post every time.

On a related note, I'm kinda shocked the Dan Quayle imposter hasn't posted yet. He seems to be particularly interested in schooling us on environmental issues. I guess his basket-weaving class hasn't let out yet.

Posted by: Thulsa Doom at June 22, 2008 6:38 PM

At the most it is probable but not definitive. To call it a HOAX is ludicrous. I am a hard core capitalist. If global warming exits - it exists, regardless of your political ideology. It is a scientific issue not a political one.

I am not a "tree hugger" or a socalist. I am economically conservative and socially progressive.

As I say - you stand for nothing, little girl.

Posted by: Jimbo at June 22, 2008 7:19 PM

Not only is the science not settled but there a more than 2 view points in the scientific community. Some scientists have suggested global warming is occuring and is a goood thing, others say it is not occuring, others it is but not manmade, others say it is manmade but we can't reverse it etc...Which one to trust? who knows but alarms calls for authoritarian measures could actually do more harm than good.

I know little about climate science but quite a bit about computer generated mathmatical models of dynamic systems(such as the atmospher), no one in my field would consider a computer model prophetic or worthy of forcing all human activity to radically change.

"Below is the monthly Hadley land and ocean and UAH MSU lower tropospheric temperatures over the last decade plotted with the CO2. Note the temperatures have not warmed, something even IPCC’s head Dr. Rajendra Pachauri took note of (paraphrasing him - as for the plateauing of temperatures in recent years, we have to see if there are natural factors offsetting greenhouse gases). Note the correlation with CO2 has vanished the last decade for both data sets."
