AP Wallows in a Parody of Gloom
Republicans hold the White House and there's an election coming up, so naturally the media wants us sunk in doom and gloom — but the liberal tools at AP have gotten a little carried away:
Midwestern levees are bursting. Polar bears are adrift. Gas prices are skyrocketing. Home values are abysmal. Air fares, college tuition and health care border on unaffordable. Wars without end rage in Iraq, Afghanistan and against terrorism.
Horatio Alger, twist in your grave.
The can-do, bootstrap approach embedded in the American psyche is under assault. Eroding it is a dour powerlessness that is chipping away at the country's sturdy conviction that destiny can be commanded with sheer courage and perseverance.
Paragraph after paragraph of misery is heaped upon the hapless reader. We're told that America feels a loss of control.
In case anyone fails to be steered in the right (I mean, Left) direction, we're reminded that we've gone through periods of supposed lost control before — and not to put too fine a point on it,
Each period also was followed by a change in the party controlling the White House.
But until Barack the Magic Negro can save the day by turning the clock back to the 1970s, we have to an endure a world so dreadful that Hollyweird writers go on strike and moonbatty newspapers stagger toward bankruptcy. Also, the weather has allegedly turned against us, New Orleans hasn't rebuilt all its slums, and some airlines charge for luggage.
It's all so awful, there's only one thing to do: stop reading AP.
On a tip from mega.

Barack the Magic Negro...
Anybody got some song writing skills? That sounds like a "Puff the magic dragon" parody waiting to happen.

This is no joke. The left is in the biggest frenzy of all time. They know it's now or never. They ENDLESSLY repeat the doom and gloom...and it's working. THE MARKETS ARE CRASHING! HOUSING PRICES ARE IN THE BASEMENT (my house is still worth over twice what I paid for it 8 years ago...how AWFUL!), THE WAR IS A QUAGMIRE...
They will not stop, not for anything. They are hell-bent to kill the America we knew, end capitalism, bring on Soviet-style socialism and (most of all) silence conservatism once and for all by making it's very exsistance a "Crime Against Humanity". We're in trouble.

I wonder what a nice Polar Bear rug in my family room would look like? I know my feet would be comfy on it.

Scott, Rush Limbaugh's team did a Barack the Magic Negro song some months back, which is where Van got the moniker. If you're a Rush 24/7 member, you should be able to access it in his archives.
I just LOVE this gloom and doom article. Makes me think of those old movies where the helpless woman was tied on the railroad tracks, crying "Somebody please save me!" while the mustachioed villain cackled nearby. Who will Save America from the Evil Villain? After all, we are not capable of rolling off the tracks ourselves...

Libs are sooo good at wollowing in self-pity and victimhood, that's why they don't want normal people to have guns! They would rather turn criminals into victims just like them and re-victimize the true victims! I wonder if they have "Embrace Your Inner Victim Weekends"?????
Personally, I am working on a petition to get Alan Keyes on the ballot in Indiana... I may throw away my vote, but I can at least make a statement for Conservativism. We have a choice between two "George Soros Boyz" and I just can't vote for that. Man I hate this election!

Excellent writing! Everyone has been commenting on this Eeyore-tastic butt-nugget from A ("The sky is falling!") P, but you've really captured the pathetic Obama shilling and lamentable lack of historical perspective that has become the stock-in-trade of the dreadfully diminished Associated Press. Keep up the outstanding commentary, please!

I like Jim Lilek's take on this story:
As for “abysmal” home values ... the authors can take heart in this story about San Francisco being unaffordable for the middle class. Thank God! There’s hope!
And
The guy’s 64 years old, and he hasn’t figured out that some things get better, some things get worse, some things stay the same, and some things to which no one’s paying attention will shape the news much more than the panic du jour in the news today? He’s 64, and can’t figure out that grown men don’t say “scary” unless describing how they felt about the Wolfman when they were nine?
And finally
It is amusing, really – after sticking people’s heads in the muck every day for years, promoting every faddish scare, fluffing the pillow beneath every yuppie worry, swapping the straight-forward adult approach to news with presenters who emote the copy with the sad face of a day-care worker telling the children that Barney is dead – in short, after decades of presenting the world through the peculiar prism that finds in every day more evidence of our rot and our failures, they wonder why people are depressed. Hang the banner, guys: Mission Accomplished.

Coming from the Midwest I can safely say that it has been flooding here since the Mississippi sprung from the ground. The levees really do no more then protect nearby property from minor changes in the waters height.

Obama is white as well. He is a mulatto.
Obama's candidacy isnt historic for anything other than he is the first mulatto to be proud of his black ancestry and ashamed of his whiteness. Presidents Warren Harding and Andrew Jackson are believed to have black ancestry.

Hey Free, how is a mulatto defined anyway? I was told a long time ago that not all mixed race people are considered mulatto. I have wondered about the exact definition or criteria for determining who is and who isn't and whether or not I was told the actual facts, ever since I was told that.
