Moonbats Attempt to Explain Why Conservatives Are Happier
A pair of moonbats at New York University conducted a study to discover why conservatives are so much happier than liberals.
Is it because conservatives believe in a meaningful universe, not the bleak, random, nihilistic void of Darwinism? No.
Is it because conservatives haven't psychologically crippled themselves with learned helplessness, instead accepting responsibility for their own success or failure? No.
Is it because conservatives can aspire to their dreams, without incessantly wallowing in neurotic guilt? No.
Is it because conservatives don't hate themselves for being Caucasian, or for living in the greatest country in the history of the world? No.
Is it because conservatives generally don't have to live with themselves after killing their own children? No.
Is it because conservatives understand that being human means they have intrinsic value, unlike liberals who can't tell a human from an animal or even a plant? No.
Conservatives rationalize social and economic inequalities.
In other words, conservatives are happy because they're too evil to care about the poor. Maybe in their follow-up research, these mopey idiots can explain why conservatives give much more to charity than liberals do.

Conservatives rationalize social and economic inequalities.
Which is a self-righteous way of saying that conservatives recognize some home truths that left-liberals deny. Such as:
- You can't improve people who are unwilling to improve themselves.
- If you subsidize poverty and failure, you get more of both.
- People are ultimately responsible for their own happiness.
Or, in the words of Samuel Johnson: "How small of all that human hearts endure/ That part which laws or kings can cause or cure!"

Ah to be a cop in a Moonbat city like Pittsburgh.
http://www.pittsburghpostgazette.com/pg/08129/880097-53.stm
""He decided he wanted to make a change in his life," he said. "At the hands of the city police department, it was taken away." "
Yeah sure blame the cops !!! No way in hell I would ever be a copy in a city like that. Hopefully the dashboard camera was running so the whole thing was documented refuting claims the cops shot their own dog with a gun then planted it on the thug. I guess this will be Al Shartongue's next stop after he gets out of jail (was arrested yesterday protesting another police shooting).

Even if true, it's a darn sight better than liberals, who cause economic and social inequalities.
Socialism devastated Britain's industrial base and threw millions onto the dole, destroying local societies and extinguishing hope of prosperity for them. Have socialists accepted their blame? NO. How's that for rationalising?

This is a classic case of selection bias. It's akin to asking why people who think others are controlling their brains through invisible rays tend to have other psychological problems.
If one selects for maladjustment, one tends to get ...uh...maladjusted people. Dog bites man.

People who tend to want other people, ie. the gov't, to solve their problems for them are going to be unhappy.

Here is a link to the actual study.
Please note that that their whole theory is based on the assumption that the belief in meritocracy is irrational. Good thing the Founding Fathers didn't know that.

From the linked article: "To justify economic inequalities, a person could support the idea of meritocracy, in which people supposedly move up their economic status in society based on hard work and good performance."
Wouldn't want to encourage hard work in school or employment, now would we?

"To justify economic inequalities, a person could support the idea of meritocracy, in which people supposedly move up their economic status in society based on hard work and good performance."
Would this include stuff such as going to Princeton and Harvard Law?

They also think egalitarian women are more dissatisfied than their more traditional counterparts because they are more aware of economic inequity. Uh, no. They are more dissatisfied because the ninnies are working two full time jobs (breadwinner and homemaker) while their smarter sisters are sticking to one full-time job.

Why do you assume that Darwinism has anything to do with state of mind, or religious belief? Why do you assume that people who don't believe in your god have a bleak, meaningless, random or nihilistic views?
Most of the people I know believe in Darwin's ideas, the Christians as well as the atheists. As far as I know I am the only one who uses evolution as any part of my philosophy. This is very unusual, and takes me further to the right in political terms, not to the left. Evolution is essentially a right-wing idea, having strong similarities to capitalism.
None of those people are nihilistic, nor do they believe that their lives are meaningless, random or bleak.
You are expressing ignorance that, unfortunately, detracts greatly from your message. religious bigotry is not very pretty, nor is it needed or even relevant to your points. Since I agree with many of your complaints about the left-wing ideologues I feel frustrated that you damage the case in this way.

Random,
Good post and point.
I tend to agree with you, but sometimes simplicity is bliss (and almost always correct). Note I did not say igorance.

"Evolution is essentially a right-wing idea, having strong similarities to capitalism."
He-he-he-Ha!-ha-ha-ha. Pick me up off the floor, here. Now that's a giggler.
Silly liberal's say the damnedest things (and believe they are being 'intelligent sounding' or something).
That's one for the books, Random. Tell us more. :-)

I just realized one of the reasons why conservatives are happier; we have silly liberals to laugh at! HA! Ha-ha-ha! I love it.
I'm a happy guy. :-)

Jimbo,
Evolution has nothing to do with religion. Tell me about theories Jimbo, explain them. We calibrate our clocks to this stuff. I will agree with you to a point, only in that people mock the Bible and I know for a fact that book shows more wisdom than most science books that people believe in.
Sorry to soapbox on you.

Here's another reason why:

Jimbo
I am far from a Liberal. I am a Thatcherite, from the right wing of our Conservative Party and anyone I know would laugh to hear me called Liberal (although I am liberal with a small "l", unlike the US Democrat Party which I would not support if I lived there or the UK Liberal Democrats, who are neither liberal nor democratic).
I am also an atheist, and very happy with a meaningful life far from nihilism or randomness.
However I also actually understand Darwinism, unlike many people. I have actually studied a small part of the vast amount of evidence of evolution, as well as the theory itself. It is also nothing to do with randomness, in fact specifically deals with non-randomness in nature. Capitalism shares some important characteristics with evolution, although not itself an evolutionary system.
The vast majority of people in this country, Atheists accept the evidence for evolution. The trick now is to show them that logically then they should encourage capitalism with very light regulation.
In just making incorrect assumptions and a meaningless post that does not address the point I made you are acting like most socialists I discuss issues with. Are you a Democrat?

Ooops, sorry I seem to have inadvertently deleted part of my comment. Should have read "The vast majority of people in this country, atheists and Christians alike, accept the evidence for evolution"

"...in which people supposedly move up their economic status in society based on hard work and good performance."
Gee, I guess I have missed out on something all these years. My parents stressed this point when I was growing up and I have always lived it. Now I find out the good life that resulted from this thinking has been selfish and insensitive to inequalities in this society???? How shallow and mean of me!!!!
