I first saw this clip last year. Thanks for embedding it VH. I can't watch the first 5 minutes of "Patton" without getting a bit choked up. To think that the USA once had men who kicked such ass all over the world, makes me proud. America needs men like Patton. Now, more than ever.

"Americans love a winner, and will not tolerate a loser."
Well, 31% tolerate the biggest loser in presidential history.
I think I'll vote for the Quayle guy.

WAD,
Jimmy Carter?

I'll second Jimmy Peanut Carter as the biggest looser.
He was 'Lame Duck' before he was sworn in.

Awesome video. We definitely need more guys like Patton today. I bet if some dorky liberal college student was out on a street corner howling and protesting that we haven't chickened out of Iraq, and a modern- day Patton stomped up to him and really let him have it like in the video, the hippy in question would need a change of underwear.

Adam, those 'hippies' in the 40's that Patton no doubt confronted, were the Commies of the 50's.
I'm sure it happened on some street corner or at some dinner party where the real Gen Patton made some run of the mill Liberal MoonBat of the day pee his pants...... No doubt about it.

Ah, for a return to a society where "gay" means happy and "liberal" means generous!
Posted by: KHarn at May 13, 2008 4:15 PM
And "conservative" means keeping the budgets balanced, the forests standing and the oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

All RIGHT! Oh man, I was standing up and cheering this. God DAMN it feels good to hear the real deal spoken in plain, un-politically-correct english. Even better to hear it in the sandpaper tones of George C. Scott as Patton. We sure need the likes of Washington, Patton, U.S. Grant and a few others cut of the same cloth right about now. I am 52, and I'd be proud to serve with THEM...any time, any where.
Oh, "Who's yer Army Dad"...keeping the forests standing WAS a conservative's idea (Teddy Roosevelt & the national park system), balancing the budget is NOT accomplished with higher taxes, and as for ANWR, I would personally kill every Carabou with my bare hands if it meant that we could tell the Saudi's to lubricate themselves where the sun don't shine with their oil. Drill ANWR. Drill the Florida coast. Drill the California coast. Let's be energy independent again!

Excellent points, Matt. I once tried telling my ultra- lefty brother about Teddy Roosevelt's conservation efforts, but he said some crap about how Roosevelt shouldn't be considered an environmentalist because he was known to occasionally enjoy hunting (My brother's into the PETA and Earth First freaks), so he was really just ensuring he didn't run out of things to shoot. Yeah, right. My brother loves making blind accusations like that and pretending like he knows more about history than I do, even though I have a B.A. in the subject and he has only a year or two of education beyond high school.
btw, a lot of the hippies who complain about drilling in the ANWR refuge know very little if anything about it. The ANWR refuge consists of a total area of about 19 million acres of land. If oil companies were allowed to drill in the refuge, there would only be actual land disturbance of about 2,000 acres of the land. That's just a little more than 1/10,000th of the total land of the refuge. Also, contrary to what the hippies are whining about and asserting, the drilling would not occur in any of the beautiful cliffs or mountain ranges of the ANWR refuge; It would take place in the refuge's flat, featureless, and relatively lifeless Coastal Plains area.

Adam...
No kiddin'. I had a buddy a long time ago, older fella, who had spent 15 years in Alaska & knew that area well. He said (and I quote):
"Shit, where they want to drill is nothin' but hudreds of miles of frozen tundra for 9 months out of the year, and the other three it doesn't produce anything but mud up to a buffalo's balls and mosquitoes the size of hummingbirds. Even the fuckin' caribou just want to get the hell across it as fast as they can."

Matt,
You make my point for me. "Conservative" *used to* mean keeping the forests standing in Teddy Rooseveldt's time.
Now it means rape and pillage the environment and the treasury.
And to "personally kill every Carabou with my bare hands if it meant that we could tell the Saudi's to lubricate themselves where the sun don't shine with their oil" reinforces the point that we drunken wingnuts are willing to sacrifice the environment for political purposes.
