Garrison Keillor Sneers at Patriotic Bikers
On Memorial Day, Rolling Thunder bikers tipped their hats to America's heroes with a patriotic roll through the nation's capital. Public radio's Garrison Keillor turned up his nose in disgust:
A patriotic bike rally is sort of like a patriotic toilet-papering or patriotic graffiti; the patriotism somehow gets lost in the sheer irritation of the thing.
Anything patriotic is going to irritate moonbats like Keillor, who dismisses the bikers as "fat men with ponytails" and even accuses them of not showing their support "in a more tangible way" in Iraq — as if most of them weren't vets, apparently unlike Keillor himself. He sniffs that if the patriots really "cared about the war dead," they would be at home reading books.
According to Keillor, the "vulgarity" of patriotism "squats on you like an enormous toad," leaving a person exposed to it depressed for hours. Fortunately Keillor was able to escape into the National Gallery, where he found relief by gazing profoundly upon drab but highly cultured European paintings.
Keillor is why it would be better to flush a dollar down the toilet than let the government steal a penny for public radio.

On a tip from Oiao.

Like many elite, pseudo "intellectuals", Keillor sneers at what he perceives as simple-minded and jingoistic. He obviously considers himself much smarter and more "aware". You can tell by the way he eases his voice out in that infamous PBS "never talk above a baritone whisper" style.
Mr. Keillor thinks that to REALLY do something you should read books. Reading is wonderful, but at some point, action is needed. Not, however, for the "intellectual" crowd. Nope. They'd rather read a study and then spout well-rehearsed statistics. I think it gives them comfort and lets them feel like they've done something.
I understand why a rally like this would leave him feeling depressed. It's because he knows deep inside that these "fat men with pony tails" are the self-same people that give minimally talented socialist-leaning types like Keillor and the rest of the PBS crowd the ability to spout their anti-patriotic B.S. over the (as of now) free airwaves.
Lastly, I'm not sure how Keillor would know if a toad was squatting on him or not, since if you look at that face in the photo above...

I suspect Garrison Keillor couldn't kick-start a Harley if his life depended on it.

Suddenly I'm reminded of the speech at the end of Team America: World Police. If you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about.

Rolling Thunder should do what the bikers in MAD MAX did to Max's wife.

May garrison keillor push the crap cart in Hell, requesting other traitors' crap...with an NPR whisper.

God bless the American soldier!

Who is "Garrison" Keillor? Is he famous? I do not know. (Sorry. I'm just the blogger for the Libertarian Alliance, I do not know many people.) He sounds like a "prize prat" (as we say about silly-people-who-are-not-very-smart in Lancashire, England.)
How can people pay money to a person called "Garrison"? I thought this was a military term describing rather brave people who defend fortifications. This does not sound like what this prize-prat does at all.

Garrison Keillor has a long-running pretentious radio show on the leftwing NPR (our publicly-funded radio network) called "A Prairie Home Companion." He's not famous in the way that movie stars are famous, but has a devoted following amongst the leftwing liberal elite, who believe themselves to be head and shoulders above the rabble, like the bikers Keillor so derisively describes.
And prize prat is a perfect description.

David, Garrison Keillor is what I consider a "Master Story Teller" and I will not deny his talent. He constructed yarns about a fictitious town called Lake Wobegone, Minnesota (I believe). I used to love listening to him on The Prairie Home Companion radio program. But... obviously when God gave him his fabulous gift, he forgot to give him honor, loyalty and a conscious. Also the ability to appreciate the great country that has given him a good life and success. If I ever see him on the street, I will slap him upside the head and tell him he is a traitor to his country and a POS. It's always the people who are so gifted and blessed that seem to have a problem appreciating the finer things, like all those who have served and sacrificed to make this a wonderful country to grow up in and live in. Michelle Obama seems to have the same disease, and she makes me ill as well, every time she opens her mouth.

Garrison Keillor is hopelessly envious.
Garrison only loves Harley drivers that will love him as Allen Ginsberg love longs for Hells Angles to Howl.

My brother is a Rolling Thunder guy. He has a crew cut, a Harley, and 23 years as a paratrooper. He was/is a warrior. His sneer would cause Garrison Keillor to shit all over his pussy little self. Then he'd go get an ice cream cone and a beer. He likes both a lot.

Pathetic creature, who's minimal talent has long ago faded away. Without taxpayer-funded NPR, he'd never gain or retain an audience of any significant size. Maybe he'd do better to switch to Air-Head America -- I hear they need some disc jockeys of late (one of them keeps getting drunk and falling down, injuring herself, then blames the fact that she's a klutz, and an inveterate alcoholic besides, on those who disagree with her).
Yep, sure sounds like "home" for Keillor to me.

What a loathsome sack of shit.
It doesn't surprise me that liberals think these kinds of thoughts. But it amazes me that they have the audacity to put their thoughts into ink so that they can distribute them to the millions and offend as many people as possible.
What happened to the liberal "chickenhawk" argument ... that you can't have an opinion on the military unless you've served? It's safe to say that Keillor never has.

Patirotism=the uncritical, unconditional love a country based purely on the fact that you, by complete and utter chance, happen to have been born there.

Patriots DO criticize their countries when it does something wrong, but there is a diffrence between honest criticism and EMBRACING YOUR COUNTRY'S ENEMIES. Liberals are not smart enough to know that.

Which explains the lack of popularity of airshows, fireworks displays and George M.Cohan.

"Patriots DO criticize their countries when it does something wrong, but there is a diffrence between honest criticism and EMBRACING YOUR COUNTRY'S ENEMIES."
So kharn, Lets's see, how can reagan be a hero to you and a "patriot" when he sold arms to our enemies in exchange for hostages? Is the bush family unpatriotic for doing business with Saddam Husseins regime, Saudi warlord oil barons, and the bin laden family? I don't see you attacking him for them for their UNpatriotic embraces of enemies.
How do you define "embracing" the enemy, retard?
Posted by: Anonymous at May 30, 2008 8:36 AM
What's the matter, Anon? Too cowardly to give yourself a name?
Oh, and just so you know, connecting the Bushes to the bin Ladens is a moot point, for three reasons:
1. The bin Ladens are a HUGE family (Osama's father produced well over a dozen children, and that's not counting nieces, nephews, and grandkids), that is VERY wealthy and influential. As such, it would be almost impossible to do business in the middle east and not have dealings with at least one or two bin Ladens.
2. With the obvious exception of Osama, the rest of the bin Laden family is known to be quite friendly towards the West.
3. Going along a bit with reason #2, it should be known that Osama has always been the black sheep of his family. He was an illegitimate son to begin with, born from one of his father's concubines rather than from one of the family matriarchs. The bin Laden family officially disowned Osama when he was in his 20s as a result of his increasingly radical and unbalanced beliefs, and none of them had spoken to him for years before 9/11 hit.
btw, not agreeing with everything our leaders does doesn't mean we're unpatriotic.
As for your original long- winded false definition of patriotism, I consider myself a patriot who supports America, yet my view of my country is far from "uncritical." I have a B.A. in History, in which I specialized in American history, so I'm quite familiar with the ugly side of our history, without necessarily obsessing over it like the liberals often do. However, I also recognize that our country has done a great deal of good over the centuries, continues to do good, and continues to have the potential to be a major force for good in the world, if guided by proper leaders with proper principles. That is why I consider myself a patriot, and why I will easily ignore the long- winded, hateful snarling of people like Keillor and yourself.
