European Parliament Quashes Opposition
Permitting opposition is not on the agenda of the new "united" Europe. The nondemocratic European Parliament is now moving to ban political opposition.
The European Union assembly's political establishment is pushing through changes that will silence dissidents by changing the rules allowing Euro-MPs to form political groupings.
Richard Corbett, a British Labour MEP, is leading the charge to cut the number of party political tendencies in the Parliament next year, a move that would dissolve UKIP's pan-European Eurosceptic "Independence and Democracy" grouping.
Under the rule change, the largest and most pro-EU groups would tighten their grip on the Parliament's political agenda and keep control of lavish funding.
Warns Nigel Farage, leader of the UKIP (United Kingdom Independence Party):
Welcome to your future. This shows an EU mindset that is arrogant, anti-democratic and frankly scary.
Scariest of all, Europeans are turning over their freedom and their sovereignty without a shot being fired. T.S. Elliot was right: not with a bang, but a whimper.

This would finally be an appropriate occasion for the progressives to shout one of their favorite phrases - "Reighstag Fire! Reichstag Fire" - so I don't expect to hear it.
So I'll shout "Gleichschaltung".
"The Nazi party's desire for total control required the elimination of all other forms of influence. The period from 1933 to around 1937 was characterized by the systematic elimination of non-Nazi organizations that could potentially influence people, such as trade unions and political parties. The regime also assailed the influence of the churches..."

One point that isn't getting made about this is- what kind of a parliament decrees how many "groups" may exist and on what terms they may exist?
Consider the defunct parliament of the former UK, for instance. It has 3 main parties, yes, but only because the electorate voted for them. It has smaller parties- e.g. the Ulster Unionists or Plaid Cymru. It has occasional genuine independent MPs. And if they felt like it, 3 members could leave the Tory party and form a Silly Hat Party.
What kind of a "democracy" decides what the representatives may represent?
Of course the EU is in a pretty perfect position. It's a government, but it claims not to be one, so while people may mumble about a "democratic deficit" (i.e. no democracy except an absurd pantomime as we see above) it "doesn't really need fixing because we aren't a government, are we?" Power without accountability. Every corrupt elitist's dream made true in the glorious EU.
As I keep saying, Europe isn't falling. It's already fallen. We're already lost. We're a bit like a cartoon character running in mid-air because they haven't realised the edge of the cliff fell away. I've jokingly asked a few times if the US will invade us and save us, but the truth is there's nothing left to save. Save yourselves and learn from our mistakes, which for instance took Britain from empire to annihilation in less than a single lifetime.

The EU a while back had a novel idea for islamic rapists and thugs who prey upon the natives. Pretend it didn't happen, Media shut up about this was the basic premise of the message the EU sent out. What really gets me is, wasn't world war 2 fought against a man who wanted to unite europe? I guess that man just didn't want to unite it the right way and the current crop of meglomanics behind the EU have the right idea. RIIGGGHT.
