Detroit Mayor Denies Cross-Dressing Performance

As if New Mogadishu Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick didn't have enough scandals with his perjury charges, attempts to bribe whistleblowing cops, and the dead stripper Tamara Greene, he's now created a new one by vociferously denying that he dressed as a girl in a school play in 1984.

Kilpatrick is the one in the red dress with the plunging neckline, fourth from the left:

His stirring performance in "Little Annie" at Dwight Rich Middle School in Lansing is still remembered by some. His name appears on the playbill. Yet mayoral spokeswoman Denise Tolliver denies he appeared in the play, and has threatened to sue The Hill for bringing the whole thing up, thereby assuring that the story gets wider media coverage. The technical term for this among public relations experts is "trying to put out fire with gasoline."

On a tip from V the K.

1984... LOL! Send him to ROOM 101 - Im sure he will admit it when he gets the Rat Cage Mask treatment.

Why the hell would he vehemently deny this? It was just a stupid middle school play. I mean, calling for a lawsuit concerning a goofy kid's play is kind of a bit much don't you think?

Hmmm... sounds like he doth protest too much.

He's prettier than Michael Loscalzo, I'll give him that.

Let's do the time warp again!

Exactly. It was a school play nearly 25 years ago...like anyone gives a hoot.

Maybe he's afraid it will affect his ability to attract his next extramarital flame.

I think the hip-hop mayor doesn't want to lose street cred with his homies by appearing in a middle-school play in drag surrounded by white crackers.

He wants everybody to believe he spent the middle school years selling dime bags and drinking 40s.

Is it just my imagination or do the other girls in that play seem a little too "blessed" to be middle school girls?

You know how Europeans are supposed to be so much more tolerant and enlightened than us dumb Americans on issues of race... well, the truth is not so much. The racist antics of European soccer fans would not be tolerated anywhere in the USA. Sure, I think we go overboard here, but on the other hand...

Unless I'm wrong here, it looks like those other "girls" are guys in drag too... which makes this case even more unusual, because if all the guys dressed in drag for the play then it's even less damning (not that this really is damning-- it just seems to be in his eyes).

Weird.

BFD, Kilpatrick. I played an 84-year-old deaf man in one of my high school plays, and brought the house down.

I bet his Mama has a copy of the playbill...just saying, Mom's are like that. They save everything.

V the K's analysis (first comment) is about right, I think.

Is that a young John Edwards, fifth from the left, standing next to Kwame "Red Dress" Kilpatrick?

That guy has a nice rack.
