Consistency Is the Hobgoblin of Sane Minds
Ralph Waldo Emerson said that "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds." But even though Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) is foolish and has a little mind, consistency does not pose a problem for him.
According to Harkin, Dick Cheney is bad, because he wasn't in the military:
On Monday the Iowa Senator lashed out at Dick Cheney, claiming the Vice President had no right to criticize Mr. Kerry's policies for the war on terror because Mr. Cheney had a deferment back then: "When I hear this coming from Dick Cheney, who was a coward, who would not serve during the Vietnam War, it makes my blood boil."
Also according to Harkin, John McCain is bad, because he was in the military:
Republican presidential candidate John McCain's family background as the son and grandson of admirals has given him a worldview shaped by the military, "and he has a hard time thinking beyond that," Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Ia., said Friday.
"I think he's trapped in that," Harkin said in a conference call with Iowa reporters. "Everything is looked at from his life experiences, from always having been in the military, and I think that can be pretty dangerous."
Before you judge Harkin too harshly, keep in mind that he lives in a bizarre alternate reality, in which he both did and did not fly combat air patrols in Vietnam.
In some respects, Harkin's reality is an improvement over the original. For example, in his world, nothing bad happened after his fellow liberals handed a victory to the communists in Southeast Asia:
We can look forward to the same sort of revisionism following our catastrophic pullout from the Middle East if Obama gets into the White House.

As is stated in my family, we are proud to be a part of the Warrior Class of the USA (with a fairly long linnage).
On behalf of my family, and my other family of brothers and siters in arms, veterans, and true American Patriots, Harkin can go pound sand up his ass.

This is very off topic, and I really hate to do that since the current topic is so salient, considering how the dems would (as they did post-Vietnam) be willing accessories to the deaths of millions simply to gain and keep power...
However, I was watching a documentary tonight (Indiana Jones and the Ultimate Quest) and a pretty archaeologist made the following quote concerning archaeological digs in the middle east:
"If you look at the map, I have not been able to dig in Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon. Most of these countries that were available, and very active in archaeology, right through into the 70's, are no longer as viable..."
And I thought to myself, what happened in the 70's in the middle east, who caused them to regress like that....think....think...think man, think!! Oh yeah, my favorite peanut farmer appeared on the middle eastern scene.

Of course he's being consistent. Look at the letter in the brackets after Cheney's and McCain's names, they're both Rs. To the democrats no enemy outranks someone with an R after their name, any means used to combat them is completely justifiable.

As an Iowan who cannot figure out why we keep reelecting him, this didn't surprize me.
This is the same guy who lives in the Bahamas but has an Iowa address to maintain the illusion he lives in Iowa.

Bill Clinton got deferments too. Would this crackpot say the same thing? Al Gore may have served in the military but he spent all his time on military bases typing up articles for Star & Stripes then got out early to train as a minister then flunked out (probably on purpose). Do those 2 clowns incur the wrath of Harkins? Nope. Why? They are DEMONcrats.

Thank you and your entire family for your service Oiao. And a big ole DITTO on that sentiment. I think Harkin was "FOR the millitary BEFORE he was AGAINST IT"!!! What a scum sucking bottom feeder!

May Tom Harkin push the crap cart in Hell.

Count me as another Iowan who doesn't understand
how Harkin can get elected in Iowa while
living in Virgina and the Bahamas.
He's also one who bemoans the "obscene"
profits of oil companies, yet his wife is on the board of ConocoPhillips. Oh, and in her bio on the CP site, it states:
"Lives in Alexandria, Va."
State29 has a lot of dirt on Harkin

What a clueless moonbat. Hanoi John would be gutless when faced with Harkin and his fellow Demonrats controlling Congress and he knows it.
While we're on the subject of the military, we need to bring back the draft.

And recall how Democrats both supported, then opposed invading Iraq... Including Al Gore, who was exposed by his Internets!
