Playing Tag Banned in Elementary School

While bureaucrats ponder the totalitarian measures that may be required to assure no children become overweight, principal Robyn Hooker has banned tag and touch football at her elementary school in McLean, Virginia, lest the kids run around too much and maybe skin a knee.

Hooker also doesn't like tag because it is a game "of intense aggression."

First moonbats wouldn't let kids play with toy guns. Then dodge ball was forbidden. Now tag and touch football are banned. Castration can't be far down the line, followed by lobotomies.

Man, the poor kids can't win in this situation. First, they're being told they need to be much more active to keep from becoming obese. Then, when they ARE active with such largely harmless games (I played them all the time as a kid and never got hurt), they're suddenly told they can't do that, either.
I'm surprised Principal Hooker hasn't taken the step that so many lefty elementary schools have already taken by eliminating recess and replacing it with a break for kids to do stretching exercises and watch lame nutrition videos.

We had the same nonsense at my kids' school, along with bans on trading lunch items (a kid might get something he was allergic to) or bringing in more than a certain number of cookies (just enough for personal use; no dealers allowed).

Fortunately, the principal - from SF, where else? - was despised by the kids and left/was pushed/something. We got a guy in with common sense, who immediately rescinded all of her rules.

I recall from my Tag days how there would always be some kid that was slower than the rest and was always 'it'. Sometimes they would pout up and stalk off saying how this wasn't fair. Now I know what they grow up to be - elementary school principals.

As a moderate liberal, this kind of crap disgusts me. Even as girls growing up, I can say we liked to be just as rough out there as the boys, sometimes. It truly saddens me to see what I considered to be fun growing up is now being taken away from our youth. You just defined what a true moonbat is lol.

I like your blog, by the way. Lots of interesting subjects here... :)
