Now They're Coming for Our Beer
Greedy California bureaucrats now want to raise the tax on beer by 30¢ per can or bottle — a 1,500% increase.
Unsurprisingly, the policy of demonizing smokers and then robbing them blind is spreading, now that smokers have been bled dry or driven onto the black market. Oinks Democrat Assemblyman Jim Beall:
The people who use alcohol should pay for part of the cost to society, just like we've accepted that concept with tobacco.
Next it will be people who eat unhealthy food who must pay their cost to society, then people who don't exercise enough, then people who won't drive Priuses, and so on until we are taxed down to a bare subsistence existence.

You're sick, and not in a fun way.

They'll never take my beer. Only problem is my favorite is Heineken. It's only a matter of time before Sharia law outlaws its production in Holland.

I love being sick, even if it means being a full-bloodied male.
Go take a break, even if it means having to find your test-tube holder to go take a piss.

Reminds me of a freaking awesome episode of 'Married With Children' I saw. Al Bundy is stirred into action when he learns that one of the issues up for voting in an upcoming election is a proposed beer tax increase(And it was a pretty small tax as I recall, too, smaller than the one these California swine are implementing). He and his family all vote, but in the end the tax passes anyway by a small margin. Enraged at this, Al gives an awesome motivational speech to a bunch of his fellow working- class dudes and inspires them all to riot and destroy the rich side of town (Sort of a modern- day version of the Boston Tea Party, in fact the episode was called "The Chicago Wine Party"), which in turn leads to the beer tax being repealed by the city's terrified politicians. Wouldn't work in real life, of course, but I wouldn't be surprsied if reaction to this tyrannical tax in California became just as furious.

Hey, here's an idea: why don't we tax liberalism?
Every time they come up with one of these moronic ideas, we raise the tax on Democrats.
I know. It's a gift...

Beer tax? What beer tax?
How do I get to Germany for the next Oktoberfest? Munich, and beautiful beer girls, here I come! (Spatenbrau is good, Sweetie, but drink Hofbrau when in Munchen).

"Criminal gangs stock up in low-tax states like Virginia..."
A couple days ago I mentioned that I used to pick up reasonably priced smokes and booze in NH to take back to Taxachusettes for co-workers and friends.
I didn't even realize I was part of a "criminal gang". Amazing how nanny state punitive taxes can turn a relatively normal people into a "gangsters".
Meanwhile, Hamas terrorists have been downgraded in the press to "militants" or "activists".

forest, smuggling can be seen as a proud ancient tradition of thumbing your nose at tyranny.
Wasn't one of the founding fathers a smuggler?

Not to worry, Assemblyman H. Simpson (R, Springfield) will never allow this to pass.
Is it just me or is the idea that Homer Simpson could do a better job of running California actually sounding plausible?
