Ministry of Truth: The Sea Is Rising!
Despite grudgingly admitting that it isn't getting any warmer, the BBC is far from finished flogging the dead mule of global warming. Today the Beeb screams that the seas will rise and wash us away.
We know this because it was predicted by a computer model. Similar models could predict that Bill Maher will be ordained the next Pope, if that's what political orthodoxy requires.
The sea level rise will allegedly occur due to the "rapid melting of ice sheets." However, the Beebsters admit they don't even know whether ice on the whole is really melting:
The latest satellite data indicates that the Greenland and West Antarctic ice sheets are losing mass, though the much bigger East Antarctic sheet may be gaining mass.
Whatever. The important thing is that we panic and submit to the will of the authorities.
On a tip from Matthew B.

It'd be interesting to see that computer model, though it's surely available only to EU insiders. I suspect it looks something like this:
X = current aid $ from United States to 3rd world
Y = X*3
Demand Y, inserting the phrase "climate change" 20 times
Each day Y is not delivered, Y=Y+$10 million

Yeah, like the model that predicted catastrophic global warming that was based on the Earth having an infinitely thick atmosphere.

Computer models can't even predict the winners of horse races.

Reminds me of the part in 1984 about the boots..
"But actually, he thought as he re-adjusted the Ministry of Plenty's figures, it was not even forgery. It was merely the substitution of one
piece of nonsense for another. Most of the material that you were dealing with had no connexion with anything in the real world, not even the kind of connexion that is contained in a direct lie. Statistics were just as much a fantasy in their original version as in their rectified version. A great deal of the time you were expected to make them up out of your head. For
example, the Ministry of Plenty's forecast had estimated the output of boots for the quarter at 145 million pairs. The actual output was given as
sixty-two millions. Winston, however, in rewriting the forecast, marked the figure down to fifty-seven millions, so as to allow for the usual claim that the quota had been overfulfilled. In any case, sixty-two millions was no nearer the truth than fifty-seven millions, or than 145 millions. Very likely no boots had been produced at all. Likelier still, nobody knew how many had been produced, much less cared."

The next thing you know the entire Earth will be covered with water except the top of Mt. Everest like in WATERWORLD !!!
* - Forget about the fact that if ice caps melted completely sea levels would only rise 200 feet or so rather than 28,000+ feet. The important thing is that everyone thinks it could. Ok, 200 feet would be very bad, but that isnt going to happen either.

When I first heard of the estimates of sea level rise durring the gw scare, it was about 18 feet. Then it was boosted to 29 feet, but another study of the vollume of ice and the fact that about 80% of the ice in the artic is already displacing water, put it at even less!
Look, if it gets hot enough to melt the poles, it'll cause a lot of problems, but FLOODING would be the least of them!
