Fighting Fire with Gasoline

The colonization of Britain by Muslims has presented some problems.

But not to worry; British bureauweenies have come up with a solution to the fifth column of Muslim imams spewing anti-Western hate and recruiting terrorists throughout the country. The solution is: bring in more imams from Pakistan.

I only wish I were joking.

On a tip from Burning Hot.

Well, this ought to work out well. Next they will bring in some imams from Saudi Arabia to exercize a moderating influence on the new guys from Pakistan. I don't know where they go from there - maybe track down Zawahiri and bring him in to set everyone straight.

Meanwhile, British men are being refused entry to "Muslim Only" swimming sessions at public pools. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=560231&in_page_id=1770&ct=5

So this is how the world ends; not with a bang or a wimper, but by standing on a chair with a noose around our necks and telling those who hate us to "have a seat".

I'm talking about America, too.

the problem in Europe, as I see it, is that to avoid the profound sense of failure and loss that would accompany admitting they've f***ked up their entire continent by letting Islam move in, through the magic of cognitive dissonance they've actually convinced themselves that the enemy is their own racism and that the Islamic migration is going to work out OK in the end - with the solution being "more Islam".

The "extremists vs. moderates" meme is, simply, a helpful Western cognitive device for preparing to bow to the future overlords without having to feel dirty or impotent about losing your entire country and continent to psychokillers who hate and want to maim and kill you, without bothering to fight back or even argue about it. Any Moslem will tell anyone who's listening that there is no extremism vs moderation in Islam, there is only Islam.

In other news, drinkers bofficially become the new smokers.

Welcome to the world of secular puritanism, in all its miserablist glory.

As to the actual post, I'm just wondering whether, if I fly to Mexico and walk across the border, some nice Texan Moonbattery reader will give me a place to stay for a couple of weeks while I find a job, y'know? Doesn't seem much point staying here in the EUSSR, the way things are going :)

So Ian, what's your take on my take on the problem in Europe? You've always got good insights about the situation over there. As an American I find it baffling. Not like we aren't starting to go through it, though.

Ian, I think the Moonbattery regulars might make an exception to the "no illegal immigrants" rule that prevails here. And hey, whoever the next president is will probably grant you amnesty, so hop on that British Airways flight to Mexico and head north (just follow the well-worn footprints).

Mega, I think you certainly have a good point about the cognitive dissonance, but any analysis of "how we got where we are and why we're doing what we're doing" would require a very well researched book to explain, I think. The western world has been for over a century in the grip of a maelstrom of political and social movements, the sum effect of which is what is tearing us apart.

For instance, one aspect of the problem is how this all got started. Foreign workers were originally imported for a practical reason of assisting with the reconstruction of war-ravaged Europe, and to work in low-paid jobs in the ailing socialist economy while in theory the indigenous workers would do the skilled jobs (an Englishman would be an electrician, a Jamaican would sell tickets on the buses, kind of thing). The low-skilled low-paid work extended to many industries. For instance, here in former Britain, large numbers of Bangladeshi peasants were brought in to work long hours for peanuts in the northern textile mills, in the hope of propping up that failing industry.

Now anyone who understands economics would have said that was pointless, but nobody did because by then Britain was in the grip of marxists. The industry was dying, and indeed it died anyway. That now left Britain with concentrations of said Bangladeshi peasants who were now unemployed in towns without functional economies. The original idea was that these migrants would have gone home at some point, but they never did, not least because being unemployed in welfare state Britain was still a lot better than being stuck on a farm up to your knees in ox poo in Bangladesh.

And by this point, the Left, who prior to the war had been as racist as anyone (eugenics was the preoccupation of Progressives, for instance) had got the racism bug, inspired by the Civil Rights furore in the USA, whose own Left had suddenly become fanatical anti-racists despite historically, for instance, the Republicans being the abolitionist party and the Democrats being the party of the Klan. Why? Well, by then, the new marxism of Gramsci, Althusser et al had taken over, and that told Lefties to support minorities, any minority will do, to bring down the "cultural hegemony" (rather than the old left who were focussed on proleteriat vs. capitalist, the new left focussed on "any minority" versus "cultural hegemons" i.e. white male capitalists).

The Left in Europe took their cue from the American academic left and copied this focus on minorities, adopting feminism, anti-racism and so on with fanatical fervour. Unfortunately, they didn't have any former slaves to emancipate, the situation was very different in Europe. But that wasn't going to stop them. They set about constructing a copy of the USA's racial problems by continuing to import as many minorities as they could so they'd have minorites to defend and with which to attack the cultural hegemony. Needless to say, their plan has worked extremely well. Their intention was to create a fractured society in emulation of the worst of America's Deep South (a kind of caricture of it in fact). That there wasn't any similar deep history of racism (certainly here in Britain) didn't stop them creating a virtual "false history"; that the majority of ordinary British people, despite their misgivings, have done their very best to incorporate and get along with the newcomers is ignored.

Broadly speaking, you can look at it almost as the European Left envying America's racial problems and recreating them over here. They're now stuck in that mindset and can't get to grips with the fact that they hadn't taken Islam's nature into account, which is where for instance the cognitive dissonance comes in. They're still trapped in believing that any brown person must be behaving as they are due to the evil of whites, and of course that reminds us that the Left are the real racists and always have been.

Anyway, that's another take on it. But the whole thing is very complex of course.
