Even Beeb Hedging on Global Warming Farce
Even the BBC, among the most resolutely ideological left-wing propaganda outlets, is edging closer to admitting that global warming is a hoax:
Global temperatures will drop slightly this year as a result of the cooling effect of the La Nina current in the Pacific, UN meteorologists have said. The World Meteorological Organization's secretary-general, Michel Jarraud, told the BBC it was likely that La Nina would continue into the summer. This would mean global temperatures have not risen since 1998, prompting some to question climate change theory.
However:
But experts say we are still clearly in a long-term warming trend — and they forecast a new record high temperature within five years.
Sure. Just like the Beeb's "experts" predicted 2007 would be the "warmest year on record." Too bad it didn't turn out that way.
Why not just have experts predict that a massive asteroid will strike the Earth if we don't institute an international totalitarian socialist government by the end of the year?
On a tip from Charles.

So, just to clarify things:
- the world has been cooling for at least 10 years
- however, we're still in a warming trend, according to unnamed experts
- things'll be hotter than ever, in 5 years, even though it's friekin' cold right now, based on computer models which predicted record hurricanes, artic ice melting and record hot temperatures in 2007, all of which didn't happen
Ah, okay, makes perfect sense now.

I'm a little confused as to how la Nina would cause global temperature drop. It makes sense that a change in weather pattern could make one area colder, but wouldn't another area have to be correspondingly warmer? the earth would still be absorbing the same amount of total heat energy from the sun, no?
It's not like a massive volcanic eruption that can partially block the heat from the sun and actually cause a global temperature drop.
It sounds like they're grasping a straws.

Forest, haven't you heard? Global warming isn't caused by the sun... it's caused by George Bush making cows fart!

And scientific brain farts.
I've been trying to think up a name for ideologically driven "science", and all I can come up with is "Scientology", but I think that word is already in use.

Al Gore should dress up like Darth Vader and say "LET THE FARCE BE WITH YOU !"

Sadly the world has has global warming jambed so far down their throats that many millions of people believe it.
I'm going to take a page from the liberal play book and say thank gaia that Pope Algore didn't get elected...after all there is that whole separation of church and state thing right?
Right?

"Mr Scaife told the BBC: 'What's happened now is that La Nina has come along and depressed temperatures slightly but these changes are very small compared to the long-term climate change signal, and in a few years time we are confident that the current record temperature of 1998 will be beaten when the La Nina has ended.'"
What is this "climate change signal" he's talking about? Apparently it's something different from temperature, which hasn't gone up for years and actually went down significantly last year. Maybe he picked up the "signal" through his tinfoil hat.
But not to worry, he's doubling his bet that we will have a warm year pretty soon. Just keep doubling up each time you lose, and sooner or later you'll hit one Scaife.

Forest,
The word you are looking for is scientism.

Remember too that this year, the Artic polar ice cap will recede even further than it did in 2007.
Or so we are led to believe...stay tuned!

Speaking of farts....
Happy Landmine Awareness Day to all my special friends.

Notice how they fail to mention that in 2007, the global temperature dropped by a whopping 6 to 7 TENTHS, not hundredths, of a degree, almost enough to wipe out the entire gain of the 20th century. This is not newsworthy to the leftstream media.

Scientism? That will work.
Who needs actual temperature measurements when we have computer models and climate change "signals"?
Those who persist in looking at old fashioned factual evidence before making judgements shall be compelled to repent!

Well, if their global climate models are so good, why are they surprised with the effects of a simple little thing like La Nina? Seems like a model of the earth's climate would have that built right in, just be a small part of it. Lol.

Why you evil people! Your just as bad as holocaust deniers! Meanwhile, back in reality, computer models can be manipulated to agree with a person's agenda so bad its not even funny.

According to a "computer simulation" I have, super heros are real!

If you believe in Global Warming, why fix it? Less people equals less co2 etc... Just wait it out far away from the equator and it's cool. The current proposed solution is just social engineering on a global and giant scale. Won't fix the so-called problem.

"Just wait it out far away from the equator and it's cool."
Pun Alert!

I really like KHarn's approach to solving global warming. It is truely Dao. The simple solution of letting things take care of themselves. (which they always do, no matter what you do)
Love the humor in this line.
