E.U. Claims Biofuel Farce Is Not a Crime Against Humanity

Tough luck for the unwashed brown people who have to go without food so that elitist moonbats can congratulate themselves on the political correctness of the biofuels boondoggle:

The EU Commission on Monday rejected claims that producing biofuels is a "crime against humanity" that threatens food supplies, and vowed to stick to its goals as part of a climate change package.

Unfortunately, food shortages are real. E.U. bureauweenies live in the dimension of things that are not real, like global warming. In addition to causing food shortages, biofuels are inefficient, have no beneficial effect on the environment, and are causing the destruction of rainforests to produce palm oil. But those facts are real too, and therefore of no concern to the folks running the E.U. — and so the massive subsidies for biofuels, extracted from hapless taxpayers, will continue.

But there's some good news for hungry Third-Worlders: President Bush wants to alleviate the problem he helped cause by pushing biofuels. The solution is the usual: hand out more of our money.

Helping moonbats feel good about their concern for the environment.

On a tip from mega.

Moonbattery is so "self-centered" and narcisstic.
Perhaps there are just too many stupid people on the planet, and all this is natures way of thinning them out... through self distruction. Unfortunately, they appear to be taking out the poor and hungry as well. All for "Bad Science" and the Goracle (who is busy selling books and carbon credits and making millions!).

Ayep, as many others (including myself) predicted people are starting to starve.

My latest webcomic is on this topic, the waste and problems in converting oil to ethanol/biofuel.

http://facebigelow.blogspot.com/2008/04/face-bigelow-62-economics-of-ethanol.html

At Hoosier: Just because you are born into poverty doesn't mean you are stupid. Some people just need a helping hand and throwing money at the situation does little to solve it. Personal relationships with those in need is the only solution. Only those who have opportunity can give opportunity to those who have none. Make a friend and break the cycle.

Since it's all our fault, a little culling of humans is OK with the greens. As long as it's not them.

Wood Dear, I wasn't referring to the poor as being stupid, the "latte drinking moonbats" that push biofuels as being the answer to saving the world would be the "stupid people". :-) And I agree with you, Throwing cash at people who need knowledge and resources to help themselves is non-productive. I am 100% for the idea of people who have the means to help, mentoring those who need the boost out of hard circumstances.

Moonbattery,

BioFuels are not a liberal or a conservative issue. It is an American issue, one that will make America strong.

Corn-based ethanol has become a viable and popular fuel, both for cleaner air and to stretch our planet’s fuel supplies.

And it's American grown. And distributed by ADM.

There are many uses for corn. ADM promotes all of them. Please do not make this a political issue.

ADM - Supermarket to the World

....or we will unleash our corporate security/private army of assassins on your impudent arse.

Hear and Obey.

"Please do not make this a political issue."

AL GORE did that, not us!
Making alcohol from corn is inefficient because it must be converted to SUGAR first, then to alcohol. Useing sugar in the first place eliminats a step or two, but alcohol is still only 80% as efficient as gasoline.
But since you're a "corn booster", please tell us how many acers of corn it takes to produce the equivilent of ONE barrel of gasoline. Also include the MONTHS that it takes to grow the SECOND crop.
Please be advised that a single poorly-producing oil well and it's support buildings can sit on just FOUR acers and pump out a dozen barrels a day! Oil can also be transported to the refinery through a pipe-line, using low-energy pumps, while CORN (And sugar) must be shipped by tanks on ships, trucks, or trains using GALLONS OF FUEL.

My error, I wrote that corn has to be shipped in TANKS, but of course, it can be shipped in bins, barrels and boxes while oil is shipped in tanks. I had changed the text, but failed to erase all of the words.

They have another name for the ADM plant in Decatur,Il. ADM= Another Dead Man. The companies safety standards are questionable at best. But on a lighter note I do love me some corn whiskey.

But -
1. Keeping high tariffs will encourage Africans to eat their corn, rather than ship it to the EU.
2. Of course Bush/US had to give money, not corn: tried giving corn in the past, but the EU has convinced African leaders that all US food is Genetically Modified Frankenfood designed to kill all non-"white" people.
- - -
K Harn asks "please tell us how many acres of corn it takes to produce the equivalent of ONE barrel of gasoline".
Well, it varies. But if you mean a US fifty-gallon barrel it takes about 900 bushels of corn. Which in the US needs about 2 acres (I thought it was 2 acres for 25 gals., but was corrected on another blog). But in other areas (eg Ukraine), it may take up to eight acres. Methods, seasons, seed type...

The ADM thing is pretty funny. Hat's off to whoever posted that.

It's tough for me to figure out why ethanol is still being pushed. Liberals should be against it due to the agribusiness subsidies and poor people starving etc.

Normal people should be against it for a long list of reasons including the subsidies, inefficiency, complete lack of net benefit, high food prices for everyone, and resulting starvation in Africa.

It's so idiotic, even some moonbats are starting to notice.

Posted by: forest at April 15, 2008 4:28 PM

And then, there's the wonderful side benefit that the typical ethanol plant consumes about 500 gallons of water per MINUTE.

For the not mathematically inclined, that works out about 260 MILLION gallons of water per year ... for one ethanol plant! We're depleting our water resources at a prodigious rate.

Thanks a bunch, environmentalist morons.

Thanks, teqjack!

ENT
They want to build an ethanol plant in Tampa at a time when florida is suffering under a water shortage that has lasted over TWENTY years! This is the longest shortage in our history, and they want to build a plant that CONSUMES tons of water a day??!!
