There is nothing inherently wrong with being middle aged; however, they are definitely skanks.

Where they get their money is an interesting question. An English friend of mine once told me that in his youth, he read the "Socialist Worker" rag regularly. He finally started noticing that it never ran any ads or had any visible means of support, yet lived (and still does). Anyone who has tried to run a magazine or newspaper can vouch for how expensive it is; and look at the number that have gone under. For example, even with all the financial support and celebrity endorsement possible, Tina Brown's "Talk" magazine endeavor was dead within a few years. So, where does the money for a publication that by any rights should have been moribund long ago come from?

Avalon, I've wondered how they got the money to do it to. I sometimes see a bunch of the local branch of the Communist/Socialist/Friends of Marx on my way to class. Apparently the school gives them permission to be on campus and set up a booth with literature (even though I don't recognize any of them as students or faculty). They don't ask for donations the times I remember, and I've always assumed that this is something they entirely themselves or more likely, had sympathetic funder.
