Bureauweenies Go After Soldier's Dad for Watching His Dogs
Henry Carroll's son is a soldier fighting in Iraq, willing to give his life, the ultimate sacrifice and while his son is deployed, Henry made a promise to care for his son's beloved dogs.
This is where the problems begin! Cumberland County, NC officials say that Henry now has two dogs too many. He had three of his own and is caring for his son's two dog until his deployment ends in December.
Officials claim that Carroll is running an unlicensed kennel. According to some county documents, which are contradicted by others, a house becomes a kennel if it has four or more dogs in it.
Henry says that if he's forced to give up two of the dogs, he will give up two of his own beloved dogs rather than break the promise he made to his son who is defending his country.
Officious little bureauweenies always find a way to stick it to our troops and their families — and now even their pets. Extraneous laws for every occasion make it easy for them to harass whomever they please.
On a tip from Lynn.

North Carolina. Formerly contained Mayberry, Sheriff Taylor, Deputy Fife, Opie. Just like Mayberry is just a memory, so is the old North Carolina of the South. No such thing would have happened there.

Mayberry was "in" SOUTH Carolina, LYLE.
I understand the logic of "if we make an exception in this case, we'll have to make an exception in every case", but can't they bend the rules on the tecnicality that two of the dog's are not the old man's? I mean, what if someone takes care of a neighbor's dog while the neighbor is on vacation and THAT gives them one dog over the limit?

bureauweenies: The true sons of bitches in this story!

You'd think one of those guys could overlook this silly technical violation to support the troops!

The one post on here that isn't bullshit. I think it is disgusting that government douches would give this guy shit about his dogs. The fact is, if he's not making MONEY he's not running a KENNEL. America is so awful.

KHarn, check your facts; no need to yell.
Cheers!

KHarn,
Mayberry was filmed in Mt. Airy,Nc. If you'll remember the show it made many references to Raleigh,Nc.

You're right, I'm just a dumb ol' cracker boy who hasn't seen the show in years. I used to watch it all the time, though.

Andy Griffith reminds me sooo much of my Dad!!!
"if he's not making MONEY he's not running a KENNEL.
I agree with yep on that point and think the situation is typical. Require a "temporary permit" so the older man can care for his son's dogs! But "yep", I don't agree with you that "America is awful". If that is the case why a have so many struggled to come here and still do. I have travelled to Europe (a nice place to visit...but not America!). It is true, we have people here that are human and make mistakes or operate under mistaken notion that the country "owes them", but... I wouldn't want to live anywhere, and I do mean anyplace else. I have had so much opportunity by being an American citizen. America has problems, but at least our government doesn't shoot us for pointing them out! ...yet.

I know I'm a day late with my comment. I just read the linked article and found this nugget:
-----------
Officials, even though they received a letter from Henry’s son Adam’s platoon leader stating that two of the dogs belong to Adam, are not buying it, as they say.
They said, “Since Adam didn’t sign it, it really might not be valid because it was signed by his platoon leader.”
-----------
These guys sound like they're in a comic skit. Tehy honestly want to use that as a defense for what amounts to harrassment?
Sounds to me like either a shakedown, or some city official did something dumb and now doesn't want to admit it.
Well, good thing all the REAL criminals are locked up and peace reigns, so they have time to waste on this s***.
