Vatican Strays into Moonbattery

Archbishop Gianfranco Girotti, described by Roto-Reuters as "the Vatican's number two man in the sometimes murky area of sins and penance," has been keeping up with the times by listing new sins, including "ecological" offenses. This apparently means contributing to the imaginary climate change crisis by emitting dreaded CO2, which we do every time we exhale.

Social and economic injustices also qualify as modern sins per Girotti, so if you've worked hard and created wealth while others sit on their duffs, be sure to ask for penance.

But Girotti also bemoaned that fewer and fewer Catholics go to confession at all.

Maybe the Church could fix that by focusing on our souls, and leaving moonbattery to moonbats.

On a tip from Burning Hot.

I'm not sure your souls are ready to be focused on..

That is nuts.
I read their list of new mortal sins, and some of them included drug abuse (Which is indeed a major evil in our society, but not something which was specifically referred to as a sin by the Bible), and "accumulating excessive wealth" (Who decides how much wealth is "Excessive?" Smells like Socialism to me).
In my seminary, I recently learned a lot about theologians and reformers like Luther and Zwingli, who challenged the Catholic church for its hypocrisies and blasphemies. They stressed that they focused on believing in and practicing what was taught in the Bible, not what the then- unbelievably corrupt Church of Rome taught. The church's policies and dogmas back then frequently elevated the church's authority as being higher than that of the Bible.
If Luther was alive today, he'd undoubtedly be speaking out against this, since many of these new 'Mortal sins' are not even mentioned in the Bible, it's clearly just the Catholic church's attempt to seem more P.C. and appease the lefties.
But, since Luther died centuries ago, I guess it's up to decent Christians today to speak out against it.
