Trial Lawyer–Democrat Alliance Holds Up FISA
Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) comments on the unconscionable irresponsibility of our Democrat-controlled House, which went on vacation rather than pass updates to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. The Protect America Act was allowed to expire almost a month ago, leaving Americans handcuffed by outdated legal restrictions that prevent surveillance of terrorists, with the obvious potential of getting Americans killed both at home and abroad. Why would Congressional Dems drag their feet on this crucial legislation?
Some 98 percent of America's electronic technology is owned by private companies, and their cooperation is essential in preventing terrorist attacks. But trial lawyers have filed lawsuits seeking billions of dollars from telecommunications firms that have helped our government stop another 9/11.
The Senate-passed bill provides protection against lawsuits for firms acting in good faith on government requests for help. This lawsuit protection is necessary to make certain they can protect their shareholders from legal expense even while they do their part to keep Americans safe.
But trial lawyers pony up quite a lot of cash for the Dems. Shysters who want to sue phone companies for cooperating with antiterror efforts include Matthew Bergman of Vashon, Washington, who has given over $400,000 to Democrats, and Mikal Watts of Corpus Cristi, Texas, was has given over $200,000 and who attempted to run for Cornyn's seat.
The FISA updates made it through the Senate despite 29 Democrats voting against them. Of these, 24 have accepted campaign contributions form trial lawyers who are suing the government for surveilling terrorists.
You might even call it a Culture of Corruption.

So, has John Edwards been channeling dead babies lately? I only use that as an example of what they stand for. And they accuse hard working conseratives, who save money without living on credit, as non-progressive.
