The High Environmental Cost of Enviromoonbattery

Solar panels are not only inefficient, their manufacture has been turning parts of the world into toxic waste dumps:

Gaolong, China — The first time Li Gengxuan saw the dump trucks from the nearby factory pull into his village, he couldn't believe what happened. Stopping between the cornfields and the primary school playground, the workers dumped buckets of bubbling white liquid onto the ground. Then they turned around and drove right back through the gates of their compound without a word.
This ritual has been going on almost every day for nine months, Li and other villagers said.
In China, a country buckling with the breakneck pace of its industrial growth, such stories of environmental pollution are not uncommon. But the Luoyang Zhonggui High-Technology Co., here in the central plains of Henan Province near the Yellow River, stands out for one reason: It's a green energy company, producing polysilicon destined for solar energy panels sold around the world. But the byproduct of polysilicon production — silicon tetrachloride — is a highly toxic substance that poses environmental hazards.
"The land where you dump or bury it will be infertile. No grass or trees will grow in the place. … It is like dynamite — it is poisonous, it is polluting. Human beings can never touch it," said Ren Bingyan, a professor at the School of Material Sciences at Hebei Industrial University.

Kind of reminds you of Sudbury, Ontario, which now looks like some lifeless alien planet, thanks to nickel production for Prius batteries. It also brings to mind the rainforest getting plowed under to grow inefficient biofuels.

But the important thing is for liberals to feel they are "doing something" about the imaginary global warming crisis.

The Toyota Pious has not been kind to Sudbury.

Hey! None of that matter because, after all, the most important thing is not the environment but lining the pockets of Al Gore and his cronies in the Global Warming hysteria industry.

Well, you also forget that in the dogma of left liberalism, brown and yellow people are less worthy than caucasians, and are neither entitled to democracy in the Middle East nor a clean environment in China.

"and are neither entitled to democracy in the Middle East..."

You mean like the kind of "democracy" that comes at the point of a gun, in ancient societies that already had tribal systems of government that worked quite well for them?

Who's the real racist, imperialistic "dogmatic" here, anyway?

Do you even READ your own comments for inherent sanity value before you hit the post button, or is the alpha wave rate just low in your neck of the woods in GENERAL?

Hashpotatoe,
The tribal system of government doesn't work very well for the females. Unless of course you think women and girls should be treated as cattle. A posession to do what the man wants to do with them. Here all this time I thought you were a Ron Paul kind of ? But now I see why you love sharia law so much. It makes you feel like a big tough ?

Looks like someone dumped neon orange paint over an oil slick in the desert

"You mean like the kind of "democracy" that comes at the point of a gun, in ancient societies that already had tribal systems of government that worked quite well for them?"

Oh sure, tribal government that works so well for them? LOL! Sure it does - unless you happen to be non Muslim and/or a woman, homosexual (dont see many gay pride parades in the Islamic world -ok thats a positive you got me there), or anyone who disagrees with radical Islam - in that case you get stoned, a part of your body cut off, tortured (real torture)imprisoned or sold into slavery. If you think Islamic tribalism is the way to go, get on a plane and give it a try.

I guess America is "Democracy that comes at the point of a gun" because - hey cops have guns !! I guess if white supremacists start blowing up polling stations (provided Obama is the nominee) you would advocate the cops and national guard do nothing and put down their guns? After all, we can have Democracy at the point of a gun. You act like the US military is dragging people to the polls saying "YOU MUST VOTE OR I'LL SHOOT YOU"!! Geesh, what an idiot. People of Iraq braved suicide bombers and crazed radical Islamists to vote while US and Iraqi military protected them with guns. And that somehow is wrong?

Yeah sure, lets just pack up and leave - let Iraq turn into Darfur so the Moonbats have yet more Muslim vs. Muslim lunacy to complain about.

Only liberals are interested in conservation? This pollution isn't a problem with the solar panels, nickel production or biofuels. It is a problem with their manufacture by selected companies. Selected with a bias. But I do agree to some extent, not that these things are inefficient, but that they are impractical. Many like me who would be labelled liberal have said for some time now that industrial hemp is an efficient, practical solution.

Industrial hemp can light our homes? Fuel our cars? Well, it does make a fine rope at least. That will help me hitch up the horses when we're as green as possible, er, legally obligated.

The net effect of strict environmental legislation is exporting manufacturing to countries without strict environmental regulation. Liberals don't care that Americans lose manufacturing jobs and the Earth gets more polluted, they just congratulate themselves for demanding surgical-theater standards of environmental purity.

In San Francisco, Vandals target 'environmentally friendly' hybrid buses. The SFGate comments as usual, are a hoot, especially this one, "How and why does a city with the highest concentration of college grads on the west coast be run so incompetently?"

Why, indeed.
