Socialized Medicine Sends Canadians over the Border for Care
Posted by Dave Blount at March 3, 2008 8:32 AM
Lucky thing for Canadians they have a country right next door that hasn't yet succumbed to socialized medicine:
More than 400 Canadians in the full throes of a heart attack or other cardiac emergency have been sent to the United States because no hospital can provide the lifesaving care they require here. […] At least 188 neurosurgery patients and 421 emergency cardiac patients have been sent to the United States from Ontario since the 2003-2004 fiscal year to Feb. 21 this year. Add to that 25 women with high-risk pregnancies sent south of the border in 2007.
This is just from Ontario. British Columbia has sent 75 pregnant women or newborns over the border in the last year.
Unfortunately, when Democrats manage to impose socialized medicine here, Canadians will no longer have a place to go to receive adequate medical care. Neither will Americans.
On a tip from Dave D.
