Recyclable Garbage Secretly Dumped with the Rest
Anyone surprised by this?
Hundreds of thousands of tons of material dutifully put out for recycling is being secretly dumped in landfill sites by councils in Britain.
Shocking new figures reveal that while some householders face stiff fines for breaching recycling laws, many councils are simply dumping huge quantities of the paper, glass and plastic they collect. […]
This is likely to be the tip of the iceberg as almost half of all councils did not release figures, including major authorities such as Birmingham, Bradford, Hull and Warwickshire.
The point of recycling is for moonbats to feel self-righteous and for bureaucrats to establish hegemony over our household routines. Actually recycling the garbage probably isn't cost-effective — not that cost-effectiveness is a concern when governments crusade on behalf of the environment.

So instead of bringing my own bag to the supermarket I should just get another 20 plastic bags that take a hundred years to dissolve
What some have seem to forget is that just because their are psycho environmentalists, that doesnt mean you have the right to oppose them and just crap anywhere you please. Why shouldn't my bottle of beer be used again, only a slob would say to 'ditch it' let them just make more.

Well, it all comes down to that old capitalist thing. There is a big supply of recycled materials but little demand. Aluminum is the only commonly recycled material that has a consistant demand (copper also, but usually that has to be ripped off from construction sites). In theory, recycling glass may save energy but there is little market for mixed glass so it gets dumped. Now you have to pay the cost of recycling and dumping.

Donwn here there have been great restrictions on what can be recycled. No more paper because of those celuloid windows in envelopes and some paper doesn't match. No glass because they don't want to seperate the clear from the colored. No steel, brass or iron because that's not in demand. Plastic bottle caps are forbidden, too.
They used to give credit on your garbage bill for recycling, now they charge you for it and there is a recycling fee on plastic containers.
Why don't they charge a deposit on glass bottles like in the old days, then there would be an incentive to return them intact!

Nor does recycling save energy or the environment, with the sole exception of aluminium (which - tadaa! - does not need to be cleaned out as it's usually just used to hold drinks).
