Moonbats Hold Up Wal-Marts for 5 Years
Humans won a small victory over environmentalists Friday when a judge finally ruled after a five-year legal battle that Wal-Mart can build a couple of stores in Bakersfield.
The stores were green-lighted by the Bakersfield City Council back in 2003. But then a group of moonbats calling itself "Bakersfield Citizens for Local Control" stepped in. Opposition was largely based on Wal-Mart supposedly not having completed a satisfactory environmental impact report, though the chain was later asked to prove that its wide selection and low prices wouldn't put any other stores out of business. So much for economic freedom.
Lee Jamieson, the developer of one of the stores, observes:
This had nothing to do with the environment, this had to do with labor unions and shutting down Wal-Mart. [Moonbats used environmental law] as a club, and used it to blackmail people — and they did a good job of that.
That's what environmental law tends to be for. The primary objective isn't to save polar bears from their imaginary threats, but to cripple the capitalist system by any means possible, the better to usher in socialism.
On a tip from Dave D.

Ah, the perfect illustration between difference between left and right. A right-winger who doesn't like Wal-Mart just shops somewhere else. A left-winger who doesn't like Wal-Mart tries to deny everyone else the choice of shopping there.

In other news, while the young men of the former UK are condemned wholesale as addled street thugs, it's nice to know there are still some bloody good eggs.

I hate Walmart.
Not for making money
I hate them for turning once nice malls into complete trash full of gutter people, and for forcing small mom and pop shops that have been around for 50 years out of business. I hate them for flooding the market with cheap Chinese junk.

"Bakersfield Citizens for Local Control"
That says it all. I'm with furballz, as far as considering Walmart bad for local economy and businesses... but. When a city council decides something is going in, it is not up to "the few" to interfer. V's right, I have a Super Walmart right across the road from me and I "choose not to shop there". The use of the word "Control" in the name of this group tells me "dysfunctional, co-dependent, manipulating moonbats" belong to it!

Suburban moonbats north of Austin have been holding up construction of a Wal-Mart for years, but they've got a different approach - rather than environmental, they challenge the increase in traffic near their neighborhood. Also, they've all but said they don't want the "type of people" attracted by Wal-Mart in their neighborhood.
I can actually identify with that. For some reason I'm reminded of the guy in Texas who keeps pigs on his property to help discourage the building of a mosque next door to him. (Old story.)

I'm in agreement with furballz too. Also because of their homonazism and mostly their dispensing of abortifacients.

Why blame Walmart, blame the poor and minorities who flock to Walmart to buy their crap. Its like drugs, if there werent buyers it wouldnt exist.

It must be nice to live in an area where you have lots of stores to choose from. As for me and the 50 mile circumference around me, the only real option is Wal-Mart. Their products are fine as are the prices.
If you're lucky enough to have a Target and/or a decent KMart in your area, well then good for you. But how about laying off the condescending remarks about those of us who must shop there?

50 miles with nothing but Walmart and no other stores? Where is that Detroit? And who is reponsible for that happening (provided it were actually true). Actually most people go to Walmart simply because they provide products at the lowest price. Thats why the other stores went out of business. I guess if Walmart werent around the othe stores would be out of business anyway due to high prices keeping people from affording anything.

Al Gore, having been out of the spotlight for almost 24 hours, announces a new three year massive Global Warming Campaign
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,343729,00.html
"We're trying to get a movement happening to switch public opinion so that our leaders feel, 'Wow! We really need to make this a top priority issue,"' ..... The Alliance will initially spend $300 million over three years, although Zoi said more could be spent in the future.
Soo.....what could you possibly spend $300 million on???
The campaign is also working through partnerships with groups like the Girl Scouts. The group's 2.7 million members will take a climate action pledge and the Alliance will provide them with kits offering suggestions for projects they can do in their neighborhoods.

Anon - I'll admit I'm a Wally-shopper and I mix quite well with white trash. (Born in a trailer and will retire to one.)
And - FYI - Here in Honolulu the Wal-Marts sell Aloha shirts (and other things) made right here on the Islands. I appreciate that. Macy's only sells Aloha shirts made in places like Bangladesh, Thailand, and Mexico.

I don't see what's so controversial about Walmart. They sell stuff cheap, and they do it well.
I think it's the "they do it well" part that really gets people worked up - especially limo-libs.
I'm not a big Walmart fanboy like Cavuto, but they just do what others try to do, but they do it better - for now.

I rarely shop at Wal-Mart. And when I do, I read the labels to make sure I don't buy anything made in China. I will buy OTC pharmaceuticals at Wal-Mart because they are very low-priced there. My mom gave me a Wal-Mart gift card for Christmas, and I used it to put together emergency kits for my sons' cars.
