Jeremiah "God Damn America" Wright to Be Honored

In case anyone had the idea that the America-hating racist bomb-thrower Jeremiah Wright is some kind of an aberration within black liberation theology circles, or such an obscure guy that even his own parishioner of 20 years, Barack Obama, could be unfamiliar with the vile ideology he promulgates:

No wonder Obama has been so hesitant to distance himself from this maniac, even knowing that his views would make the average American blanch with terror and disgust. The guy must be a pipeline to vast reserves of stick-it-to-Whitey votes.

On a tip from Michael M.

Will they sell popcorn at the event?
Can I get a soda in a 40 oz?

Van, you missed an important link regarding this story. The (not so) Brite Divinity School is now having to defend it's decision to honor this very racist reverend. Their reasons are:

  1. Previous recipients of this award were OK people.
  2. He's served for a really long time
  3. While he was in charge, membership grew more than 100x (Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, et al had big followings, as I recall)
  4. "Contrary to media claims that Wright preaches racial hatred, church leaders who have observed his ministry describe him as a faithful preacher" who simply preaches in a way unfamiliar to middle class America.
  5. A white preacher has something good to say about him.
  6. The racist reverend Wright answered his critics on a March 2 FOXNews broadcast by lying stating, "The African-centered point of view does not assume superiority, nor does it assume separatism. It assumes Africans speaking for themselves as subjects of history, not as objects of history." [cue leftists swooning at this eloquent nonsense]
  7. The obligitory statement "Brite does not endorse all of the statements or views of any of the church leaders recognized by the Divinity School."
...and the number one reason the not so Brite Divinity School is honoring this racist:
  8. Brite is recognizing Dr. Wright for his forty-year ministry linking divine justice and social justice.

Yes, if Jesus were here today, he would be a card carying member of the communist party, where everyone is equal (of course, some are more equal than others) and social justice is King.

If a white preacher had made statement attacking blacks and damning America because it freed the slaves and John McCain attended this preachers Church for over 20 years contributing large sums of money - there would be riots and protests nationwide demanding he step down as Senator and abandon his run for the Presidency.

I heard Oprah, one of Obamas biggest supporters once was a member of Wrights Church too but apparently quit some years ago. Most articles mention her attending since 1984 but dont mention what year she quit. Was is it after the 9-11 comments? Has Wright been nuts since 1984 or earlier? Or did he go completely off his rocker after 9-11 prompting Oprah to quit.

Is there some comprehensive history of Wrights racist comments somewhere? Sometime guys like him suppress or tone down their racism for years but when they get older they just let it all hang out. As people get older they eventually just let it all hang out and have little or no self control.

Wright went with Jesse Jerkson and Louis Farrakhan to meet with Gadaffi in Libya in 1984 to free a US Navy pilot shot down in Lebanon. Though Wright insists he doesnt share the views of either man, his recent comments infer otherwise.

There tons of articles out there but most of the comments dont have dates attached.

Have you read the curiculum vitae of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright? This guy...

- Grew up in a Philadelphia suburb, the son of a Baptist minister. Philadelphia was never really a hotbed of racial tension.

- Chose to attend Virgina Union University, a traditionally black college.

- Joined the Marines in 1961, transferred to the Navy and was trained as a cardiopulmonary technician. Seems his blackness did not preclude him being accepted to learn a very valuable and lucrative skill by the US Navy.

- Attended Howard University receiving bachelor's and Master degrees. Received a second Masters degree at the University of Chicago Divinity School in 1975

This guy really doesn't seem to have suffered much from prejudice in his life for a guy who rants about it constantly.

OMG - this crap is happening in my beloved state of TEXAS!

At least it's in Fort Worth, not Houston!

Yeah, Jeremiah Wright is being treated soooooo unfairly, isn't he?

Please disregard the echo. My point is that Wright's defenders are claiming he's being subjected to a "high tech lynching" (wonder if they felt that way about Clarence Thomas in 1991), simply because his own words are being played on television for all to hear. Evidently, we have no right to hear the words of this racist hater.

So, did Jeremiah Wrong spend much time in his beloved homeland of Africa?

"So, did Jeremiah Wrong spend much time in his beloved homeland of Africa?"

And his "African" congregation too, UCA.

The pro-illegal alien bunch has said "America is a continant, not a country", but do you think they would DARE say that about AFRICA?
It wasn't untill the sixties that "African-Americans" identified themselves as anything other than AMERICANS. At that time they started calling themselves "Afro-Americans", identifying with a mystical land that never existed since Africa was and still is a continant made up of dozens of countries and hundreds of tribes, of which, only about half were negroid (The proper term for the "black" race). Also in the sixties, some started calling themselves "black" as a challenge to whites, since at the time "black" was a RACIST term!

Barry and Jerry would make a great team for the moonbat ticket; all they need now is the moonbat goddess Cindy Sheemale for Secretary of State (the state of insanity to be more specific). Whatever kind of voodoo that Jerry tried to pronounce on our great country will come back into his face, and with more "black magic power" to knock him over.
