Euroweenies Threaten USA with Trade War in the Name of the Global Warming Hoax
Belligerent Euroweenies have displayed the unmitigated gall to demand the American economy be run in accordance with their envirosocialist dictates:
A European Union summit promised to push through legislation within 12 months to impose ambitious targets to reduce the 1990 level of carbon emissions by one fifth by 2020. The European leaders also pledged, however, to take action, if necessary, to counter unfair competition from less eco-friendly countries, such as China or the United States.
The French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, suggested that this could mean "carbon" taxes on manufactured goods from nations which refused to take radical action against global warming.
So much for our new ally Sarko, who in addition to threatening America with a trade war, wants to tighten ties with Muslims through a "Union for the Mediterranean."
Not having to shoulder the expensive burden of defending freedom around the world gives largely freeloading Europeans an economic advantage, but this is more than made up for by the inefficiency of their quasi-socialist economies. However, our government has been metastasizing out of control, eroding our position with every bloated budget.
Sanctions won't prevent the terrorist lunatics running Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, largely because Europeans can't be counted on to go along with them. Yet they will impose sanctions on the USA for not deliberately hobbling our own economy and the world's in the name of a discredited hoax.
It should go with out saying that this is about protectionism, not the environment. Unfortunately, our next president may be enough of a left-wing idiot to fail to understand this and retaliate appropriately. But in the long run, Eurocrats would be wise not to push too hard against China and the USA — lest they push us into each other's arms, at the E.U.'s expense.

Geez, go ahead with your stupid policies. I would like to point out that one of the reasons China is so polluted is because we can't manufacture that stuff here is because of our environmental laws. Same with India.

Retaliate how? Retaliatory tariffs constitute a punitive tax on ourselves, and are therefore economically foolish.

It just amazes me they have the nerve to threathen the US and China, two countries that could squash them like a bug if they so chose to.
Looks like Sarko is putting his chips on Islam. Smart man. He and Putin should do lunch.

You would think Japan would take stand with the US on this one. They've been harassed about whaling and such for years.
I'm glad you mentioned China. The thing is China is becoming more and more "capitalist" or at least, pro making money every day. They figured out a generation ago that true Marxism is unaffordable. Luckily for their bureaucrats, the suffocatingly large state was firmly in place. They just restrict the income of the masses(whose population they can strictly control. )But make no mistake, at the highest levels, Chinese love to make money whatever the cost to the environment.
The EU is terrified to defy China because they don't embrace this namby-pamby pacifist, feel-good pc bs. But at the same time, the EU is very much like statist, totalitarian China none the less.
