Confirmed: Global Warming Isn't the Problem, Civilization Is
At last a little honesty from the enviropsychos behind the global warming hoax. Kate Rawles, lecturer at the University of Cumbria and a flaming moonbat, sets off some echoes at Greenbang:
Greenbang: What do you think is wrong with the debate on climate change?
Dr Kate: It hasn't really got to grips with the fundamental problem, which is that Western, industrialised lifestyles are literally unsustainable. Climate change is just one symptom of this. WWF famously calculated that if everyone on earth were to enjoy the lifestyle of an average Western European, we would need three planet earths.
Not even the most optimistic believers in technology think that we can technofix this problem so that 6 billion people (let alone the projected 9 billion) can enjoy a western lifestyle without ecological meltdown. It follows that we urgently need to rethink what we currently mean by a "high standard of living" and move away from materialistic versions of this to an understanding of quality of life that could be enjoyed by everyone, without causing environmental mayhem. This is about values, not just about technology.
WWF in this context stands for World Wildlife Fund, not World Wrestling Federation — although the level of scientific credibility is about the same.
While preaching to the choir "Dr. Kate" lets slip the actual objectives of environmentalists: to keep the poor poor, and force the rich to join them, using whatever totalitarian measures will be required.
For thousands of years, the story of mankind has been an upward striving to improve our condition. Now this cult of evil lunatics wants us to reverse that trend, and force us to deliberately worsen our condition.
No matter how much they may care about polar bears, environmentalists clearly do not care about human beings. Even Nazism benefited Nazis. Radical environmentalism is so profoundly depraved that it does not benefit anyone. Yet this sick, pro-poverty ideology has so much influence in this country that we would rather buy oil from our enemies than drill for it in a godforsaken wasteland like ANWR.

That woman explains all those Big Foot/Yeti sighting in the Pacific Northwest.
I wonder if she is related to Cousin IT from the Addams Family?

"This is about values"
Exactly, their religion vs ours.
"Radical environmentalism is so profoundly depraved that it does not benefit anyone. "
Ha ha! You assume that the environazi leaders are going to give up their Western lifestyle - not a chance buddy!

She'd better give up those glasses, and that T-shirt, and that jacket, and a few things not shown - like her car, education, house, toothbrush, refrigerator, fresh tropical fruit, cell phone, shoes - all made possible by evil western civilization.

Ms. Rawles should promptly return her carbon to the earth.

I think I saw her spining barefoot in a peasant dress at a Dead concert in 76...

Don't like Western civilization? First thing, take away her corrective lenses. Second thing, dump her in a Florida swamp. Third thing, laugh as she gets eaten by alligators.

Speaking of polar bears...
The National Center for Public Policy Research has just posted this parody video about the "endangered" polar bear.
http://www.nationalcenter.org/PolarBear.html
Apparently the Dept. of the Interior may announce as early as Monday its decision whether or not to categorize the polar bear as an endangered species (despite that fact that the polar bear population has doubled over the last 40 years).

Jimbo--
I think she already gave up her education.
The frustration in Oregon is peaking...with no end in sight.

Sure, we're lucky we have the capital city of Ectopia in Portland. We have that going for us.

I swear to God, these people (like Dr. Kate) must have a gene that makes them like this. Look at the hair. Look at the glasses. Look at the "I'm so serene, knowing that I'm saving the planet and making sure that Americans will soon be living in a third-world country" smile.
(Things I assume about people who look like this:
Vegan. Wiccan. Uses baking soda as a deodorant [but only on special occasions]. Drives a Prius [except when she's in a SUV driving to an "important" environmental impact zones or Global Warming rallies, which she got to by flying in a gas-guzzling airliner]. Takes a reusable canvas "tote" when shopping for organic food at her local farmers co-op. Donates money to buy prosthetic limbs for dogs and cats wounded in Afghanistan. Donates money to environmental groups who want to blow up medical research facilities. Donates money to PETA [but I'm being redundant]. Against euthanizing abandoned animals. For late term abortions. Has zero kids. Has 47 dogs and cats. Thinks "Bush Lied". Thinks Hillary's honest. Thinks men who read Playboy are abusive to women. Thinks Bill Clinton is a role model. Thinks Jesus Christ is a myth. Thinks Al Gore is for real.)

Matt - I too have long suspected that there's a moonbat gene. They can't all look alike, dress alike, and have the same thousand-yard stare, just based on the brainwashing they got in "womyn's studies" classes...

If there is something that I really hate to hear when it comes to the Global Warming issue are those hardcore "environmentalists" putting all the blame on human activity. If you haven't watched the documentary movie The Great Global Warming Swindle, produced by the British Channel 4 TV broadcasting channel, you should. You can find it in the web. Watch it, and make up your own opinion.
Global warming and cooling have occured naturally in the Earth's history, with some thousands of years of interval. The last global warming did not occur because of human activity (there were very few humans on the planet, and certainly no industry at that time), and nor because of volcano activity (for some serious volcano activity, one needs to turn the clock back some hundred thousands or millions of years). One thing that some "scientists" (like Al Gore) are ignoring is the Sun's influence on Earth. And the reason why they ignore it: Economical reasons - as always.
Also, about CO2 gas emition, apparently this is not the cause of global warming. The increase of CO2 is a RESULT of rising temperature, and this increase in CO2 comes from the oceans. All living things are made of CO2, and funny enough, I have heard that a cow produces more CO2 in a day than an SUV might produce in a day by normal use. About the real hazards produced by other fumes from factories and vehicles, nobody seem to care about anymore. The hype right now is the evil CO2 (for some reason... $$$$...).
We as humans can not stop the Global Warming as it is a natural phenomenon. Everyone agree that this has happened in the past, and it is no different now. You could shut down all the factories in the world, stop everyone from using their cars, stop the airline transportation, stop the maritime transportation, and I bet that the global warming will still continue - thanks to the Sun's activities (incl. sunspots and the Earth's trajectory around the Sun, which also changes after a few thousand years). If human activity has any influence in Global warming, it is probably so minuscule, that it is negligible.
Now, we just have to adapt ourselves for the Natural Global Warming. When I hear people saying that we should do this or do that to "save our planet from Global Warming", I have to laugh. There is nothing that we can do against the very mighty nature.
Funny enough, some people seem to be much more concerned about the Global Warming issue instead of concentrating on the real problems of the world: Need for energy, and toxic pollution. None of the whining environmentalists seem to concentrate on the root of the problem: The demographic explosion. In 1960, the world population was 3 billion. In 2000, it doubled to 6 billion. Do the maths. The more people on the planet, the more is the need for energy, the more pollution we get, and the less resources we get.

"WWF in this context stands for World Wildlife Fund, not World Wrestling Federation — although the level of scientific credibility is about the same."
pure gold :)
PabloD, Matt - There's a certain type of person who is actually completely nondescript in every way, and unconciously tries to make up for that by "doing something to help" the greater good. I call it unconcious activism, because they're completely unaware of what they're doing and why, or that their "saving everyone" schtick is actually just meddling that irritates everyone around them.
But they lack the self-awareness to admit that all they're doing is trying to make themselves feel good about their otherwise nondescript selves.
Hence the thousand-yard stare - any attempt to focus would bring the cognitive dissonance starkly into their conciousness and they'd lose that vague, warm/fuzzy feeling they get from the knowledge that they're "making a difference."
When in reality the biggest challenge they'll ever likely face is deciding whether it's better to vote for Hillary because she's a woman or Osama because he's African-American.
We have them in Australia too. I think they're even more irritating when they're ranting with an Aussie accent about how mining is destroying the environment or nuclear testing was racist and killed all the aboriginals.

"The Greenies think in terms of limits, not adaptation. To them, our future is limited, our ability to deal with change is limited, our ability to plan is limited, our intelligence is limited."
Very succinct and accurate. Basically what I was trying to say in the comment above (forgot to put a name on it). The green movement really is run by mediocre, average people without the imagination, intelligence or drive to do anything but suggest that we just sort of wind humanity down and bring to a close.
