Confirmed: Global Warming Is Over
Well, global warming was nice while it lasted.
Michael Duffy of Australia's ABC Radio National conducted an interesting interview with Jennifer Marohasy, biologist and senior fellow at the Institute of Public Affairs.
Duffy: Is the Earth still warming?
Marohasy: No, actually, there has been cooling, if you take 1998 as your point of reference. If you take 2002 as your point of reference, then temperatures have plateaued. This is certainly not what you'd expect if carbon dioxide is driving temperature because carbon dioxide levels have been increasing but temperatures have actually been coming down over the last 10 years.
Duffy: Is this a matter of any controversy?
Marohasy: Actually, no. The head of the [U.N.'s] IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) has actually acknowledged it. He talks about the apparent plateau in temperatures so far this century. So he recognises that in this century, over the past eight years, temperatures have plateaued … This is not what you'd expect, as I said, because if carbon dioxide is driving temperature then you'd expect that, given carbon dioxide levels have been continuing to increase, temperatures should be going up … So (it's) very unexpected, not something that's being discussed. It should be being discussed, though, because it's very significant.
Duffy: It's not only that it's not discussed. We never hear it, do we? Whenever there's any sort of weather event that can be linked into the global warming orthodoxy, it's put on the front page. But a fact like that, which is that global warming stopped a decade ago, is virtually never reported, which is extraordinary.
Still more extraordinary is people's continued willingness to take the moonbat establishment's word for anything whatsoever, after it has proven it will lie to us even about the weather.
On tips from Oiao and mega.

Algore saved the day! He single handedly reversed global warming! (That WILL BE the spin.)
Next thing you know, someone's going to point out the extaordinary growth rate of redwood trees, (as much as 6' a year or more) and people could find out CO2 is to blame, er... credited.
Shoot - just pointing out that trees grow makes moonbats dizzy and more confused.

Thank you, thank you! You all realize that without me, this earth would have cooked itself.
Exalt me. Glorify me. Celebrate me.
You're welcome.

Yesterday one of the network news broadcasts had them attacking a Global Warming skeptic implying he is the only "scientist" left denying the rantings of the Al Gore while showing video of melting icebergs. They make it a point of saying hes in his 80's (translation: old and senile) and pointing out he said things about 2nd hand smoke and toxic waste. They also mention he once denied getting money from oil companies then say he then admitted he ONCE got $10,000 from Exxon. $10,000? Global Warming hysterics get BILLIONS in government money to hawk their hype.

Its grill time boys!
Hash, bring your ASparagus!
I cuss, you cuss, we all cuss for ASPARAGUS!

I recently discovered that Lawrence Solomon has published the book "The Deniers," which presents his work as a Canadian columnist displaying the anti-AGW work of 19 (at last count) or more scientists.
AND
Roy Spencer of NASA has just published the book "Climate Confusion". He cuts through the hype of Gaia's chicken littles and presents data of the flat global average tropospheric temperatures in this century.

UCA,
Now how rare do you like your steak? Do you like it rare enough so a good vet could get it back on it's feet in no time?

Ted,
I like it so bloody I have to keep to potatoes on a seperate plate.
Its much healthier that way! Overcooked hormones in beef cause global warming.

Ah hell I thought all that smoke coming off my grill was my respects to gaia for providing me charred cow flesh. Now I've caused globull warming!! Well I'll just have to cool it down with a cold frosty beer, eerr I mean carbon offset.

"Algore saved the day! He single handedly reversed global warming! (That WILL BE the spin.)"
Seems reasonable to expect...many libs will take credit because they now drive a Prius, plus places like San Fran banned plastic shopping bags.

Man, you people have an uncanny ability to pick out one point of data that fits your pre-defined conclusion to use as "proof" of your conclusion.
The cited article quotes Jennifer Marohasy, a biologist at Melbourne-based think tank the Institute of Public Affairs. Marohasy was asked: "Is the Earth stillwarming?"
She replied: "No, actually, there has been cooling, if you take 1998 as your point of reference. If you take 2002 as your point of reference, then temperatures have plateaued. This is certainly not what you'd expect if carbon dioxide is driving temperature because carbon dioxide levels have been increasing but temperatures have actually been coming down over the last 10 years."
But look at the long-term trend. Using the same technique of selectively using data from 2000 (mid-way between Marohasy's 1998 and 2002 points), the data shows a major unambiguous jump in air temperature.
More importantly, the longer term trend is unmistakeable.
I'm surprised I need to point this out to you. You're making us TRUE CONSERVATIVES look lame.
And making Al Gore look like a genius.
And people say I'M dumb.

Dan: that's because you ARE dumb.
"If you take 1998 as your point of reference"...
Okay, so 1998 is the reference point.
Now let's look at something more recent than this out-of-date Wiki page that you cite:
http://www.climateaudit.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/hadcru32.gif
What's the big negative-going *dip* at the end? Hint: we're now LOWER in temperature than the 1998 reference point. Which is why the good doctor said "actually, there has been cooling, if you take 1998 as your point of reference."
Relax. Take a deep breath. The polar bears are just fine.

Algore2,
I guess I should have said "you people have an uncanny ability to pick out TWO pointS of data that fits your pre-defined conclusion to use as "proof" of your conclusion."
I stand corrected.
And the disappearance of the glaciers from Glacier National Park is just a liberal illusion. Damn them.
