Bottom Falling Out of California Public Schools
In light of California's recent attempts to follow Nazi Germany's lead and ban homeschooling, it's particularly alarming to see the bottom falling out of the bloated monstrosity that is the state's public school system:
California, home to 1 in 9 American schoolchildren, is on the brink of what may be the biggest public education crisis in state history. Facing a $16 billion state budget shortfall, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has proposed $4.8 billion in school-funding cuts, or 10 percent of education spending.
The cuts may be a bluff, to frighten legislators into backing still higher taxes. But there are limits to how high taxes can be raised before the flow of productive Californians out of the state becomes a torrent, reducing the tax base to penniless Mexicans.
At least when California schools go completely bankrupt, children will no longer be force-fed homosexual propaganda, communism, or the global warming hoax.
Once again we see that something as important as education cannot be left in the hands of bureaucrats.

I did not know that educasting people about the fact that a small percentage of people are born with an homosexual sexual orientation is propaganda. I guess in VH's world it is. GO FIGURE.
I guess facts and science are NOT friends of VH.
Does anyone get the impression that VH might be delusional. Can anyone take him in for observation?

Our kids can't find their home state on a map, they can't do long division, they can't read anything more intelectual than "The Cat In The Hat", they think George Washington fought a war against Russian nazis, but BY GOLLY they embrace diversity and can berate you for not caring about "global warming"!
Right, LT?

By the way, Liberals are the same people who consider people as old as 24 years to be "children".

It's a crisis only because the public educational system is so sclerotic that no amount of funding could rescue it.
What's needed is to dismantle the present system and start over...without the mind-numbing bureaucracy that's in place today.

We should pay teachers more money to make sure we have caring, quality teachers and we need to spend more timing solving the problem of high HS drop out rates.

Nonsense. Total, utter nonsense.
First, merely spending more money (the liberals reaction to all stimuli) will do nothing of the kind. Breaking teachers' unions would be an excellent first step, so we can fire lousy teachers and make room for better ones.
Second, we can cut back the bloated administrative ranks through all levels of public education in California.
Third, we can fire everyone associated with "diversity" (the Univ. of California has a "diversity" office with a budget of $4 MM/yr), ethnic studies, womens' studies, and sociology departments. We can pare back bloated (and communist-infested) arts departments to, say, 20% of their present size, enough to perform service teaching and provide replacement-level graduate training, but that's it. That would save a LOT of money, not to mention getting rid of a lot of worthless pains in the ass. And yes, Angela Davis, I mean you.

I get the feeling that LT doesn't live in CA. He's not really 'worked up' over this.

If more $$ (see liberal answer to everything) was the answer to political problems, US kids would have the highest test scores in the world, AIDS would be non existent, no teenage girl would be pregnant, poverty would be gone, etc

That's news to me. How on earth is homosexuality transmitted since they don't reproduce. Or are you arguing that homosexuality is a birth defect?
