Bad News from NY Times: Americans Living Longer

Americans — both rich and poor — are living longer. The New York Times is appalled:

New government research has found "large and growing" disparities in life expectancy for richer and poorer Americans, paralleling the growth of income inequality in the last two decades.
Life expectancy for the nation as a whole has increased, the researchers said, but affluent people have experienced greater gains, and this, in turn, has caused a widening gap.

Could it be that the same factors that cause people to generate more wealth (e.g., self-discipline) also cause them to live longer? Nope; that doesn't stand up to the Gray Lady's Marxian analysis.

If you've ever seen Logan's Run, this ought to give you a chill:

The Democratic candidates for president, Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York and Barack Obama of Illinois, have championed legislation to reduce such disparities[…]

Obviously wealth distribution doesn't go far enough to impose "social justice." We'll need a mandatory death age, to be sure that those living healthier lifestyles don't oppress those who spend their welfare checks on Big Macs and cases of Milwaukee's Best by living longer.

"We'll need a mandatory death age"

Well, if we can get them to "lower the bar for libtards" since they serve no useful function in society... I might go for that one!!! [disclaimer: This is a JOKE!]

V, If a moonbat prof wants to not teach moonbat students to write... that means fewer trolls on the blogs in the future!!! Think about it, it would be glorious!!! LOL!!!

A complete absence of writing skills is no impediment to trolls. Case in point, HashfanaticFan.

OK V, you got me on that one! LOL!!!

Dude, hashie is going to be so pissed when he finds out you stole his near-mint copy of Logan's Run #4 from his mom's basement.

Unoriginal, wow I can't read opinion journal. You should at least acknowledge the Logan's Run reference. You are corrupting James Taranto's work (A person I truly respect btw).

You mean at one time comics were only 30 cents?

Heck, when I was a kid (1965) they were 12 cents.
